Question about Umax Astra 3400 Flatbed Scanner

Unlock the lock button

Got problem with my scanner, i had been repeating hte process of uninstalling , booting, installing and plugging out hte scanner... a message always says unlock the button of hte scanner.. i have done so... i almost screwed it up and pulled out the lock button yet it always ask me to unlock it.. my scanner is umax astra 2500... can u help me

    hi
    i have a 3670 hp scanjet scanner and i have these blue streaks when i scan a photo.hp said its because my scanner is locked how do i unl-
    ock it?there no button that i can see to do this on the scanner.what
    can i do?im on xp on a dell demension 1100 computer.thanks

Can you tell me what OS you are running? XP ME Vista? Also, can you find out what version of the drivers you are installing?

HP scanner is missing. Unable to scan slide.


The ArcSoft PhotoImaging suite is just to process and scan images, but the printer hardware itself needs hardware drivers, which contain coded instructions to communicate with your CPU.
This is the HP scanning software.
Printer/Scanner hardware should have a driver setup disk that came with it.
If you have this disk:
shut down PC
unplug printer
boot PC
uninstall the current version, if in start>control panel>programs
restart PC
install driver from disk or downloaded driver file for your model.

INkCartrige error 50c. Will not print. Display this note each time I try to make copy or print from computer.


Hi there

You should always mention the printer model as well as what operating system you use.

This is what i found on LEXMARK's website about your error, and it seems you have one or 2 faulty cartridges, or you are using compatible cartridges instead of Lexmark Originals:

Problem Error messages; Error: "Cartridge Error 50C"; Cartridge error; Black cartridge missing; Color cartridge missing Solution Cartridge Error 50C
Your print cartridge has shorted.

  1. Power off your All-in-One and unplug it.

  2. Plug in your All-in-One again and turn it on.

  3. Uninstall and then reinstall your cartridges.

  4. If this does not resolve the issue, try the troubleshooting steps for the other cartridge errors below.

Error: Black Cartridge Missing
The black cartridge is not installed. (Install cartridge PN 82)
Error: Color Cartridge Missing
The color cartridge is not installed (Install cartridge PN 83)
Cartridge Error
Complete the following instructions:

  1. Power off your All-in-One.

  2. Use both hands to lift up the scanner unit until the scanner support holds it open.

  3. Turn the All-in-One on. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

  4. Remove the color print cartridge.

  5. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.

  6. If the error message reappears, replace the black print cartridge with a new print cartridge.

Can not start my scanner


Have you unlock the scan optic? Its usually located at the bottom of the scanner

Have put in a new colour cartridge but the note on the printer comes up error 50C

Hp scanjet 3500 c series


i read somewhere it was SP3 causing the problem and to uninstall it if you can. I tried and it didn't work so the computer broke down a few weks ago and the idiots installed the wrong OS. they put on xp home instead of xp pro and the scanner is working. just wondering if, when i put xp pro back on will it still work.

Can't uninstall microtek 5900 scanner


This is a funny problem. Try & locate SCanwizard 5 files and delete them. Complete the registry deletion as suggested. Run scandisk. Install and uninstall Scanwizard 5.

Error message


This is a software error message. This model of scanner actually holds a file set ..not just one file. it is likely you are using a program to download your inventory list or similar, and the files have been lost (usually by leaving hte battery out too long).

A SKU is another name for an item number.

It is quite unlikely this is a problem with the hardware itself.

Installation problems


Did you plug the scanner in before installing the software? Common mistake... Disconnect the scanner, uninstall the software completely, re-boot, open up the Device Manager, Click View-->Show Hidden devices--> Look for any scanner related drivers that are still installed for the scanner (they will moste likely be grayed out since it is unplugged) and uninstall them (Right click-->Uninstall). Re-boot again, install the software, wait for the software install to prompt you to plug in the device. Follow the quick start guide if it came with one. Check the manufacturers web site for updated drivers, software for you model.
