We moved. Unplugged our tower. Left it off for over a week. reconnected it yesterday. It will not come on. has a flashing green light on the back. Changed power cord to see if that was the problem. Still will not come on.

Hello, Last night I shut down my Dell E510 desktop - the proper way - by going to the start menu, shut down, turn power off. Then, today, I pressed the power button on the front of my tower and...

This sounds like a definite power issue. This means that the problem could range from being as simple as the power button itself not working/disconnected to the power supply being dead.

Things to try:

1. Have the side of your computer open and press the power button. Notice if any fans start to move or anything that happens.

2. Do you notice the Hard drive light flashing at all when turning on?

3. Has anyone else been using or been close in proximity to the computer that could have bumped it, causing something to come loose?

4. ONLY if you feel competent enough, check the cable connections inside the computer. Make sure to disconnect from the wall for 30 seconds and reconnect before touching any cables inside. Leaving the cable connected allows the computer case itself to act as a ground to prevent static shock.

Good luck!

Bad Power Supply. Weak voltage power rail.

The Green LED flashing on the back is now a diagnostic light, and is conveying the above.

Allow me to show you using HP as an example,

Tower will not turn on .

My first guess is to replace the power supply. These are fairly cheap and easy to replace. Unplug your computer. Just open the side of the computer (often the left facing you). The power supply is on the top which is plugged in. Remove the plug and locate 2 - 4 screws that hold it in place. Disconnect the main from the motherboard (remember where this goes for later). Install the new one and reconnect power. This is the most likely reason. If that fails, the motherboard may be dead. The green light flashing indicates that the internet is ready but has no power.

on the signal board replace the caps by the 5/9 volt regulators. c2p04 is the main culprit. 6 caps in total can be changed. I believe c2p05 also.

Power Switch trouble

Hi, I have seen this problem before and it was related to circuit failure, let us hope this is not the case! From your posting I understand that your computer won't turn on now. So the next step is to reseat the components inside the tower. The first thing you need to check is the connection from the switch to the mainboard. Open up the case and follow the swith wires to the main board. They should be blue and white wrap around each other. If the connection looks fine then disconnect it and then reconnect it. Try the power the computer on. If it doesn't come on then we will need to do the next step. Open up the case and remove the RAM and place it back in, then diconnect the hard drive and reconnect it. Then disconnect the powersupply from all everything including the mainboard and then replace it. Then try to power it on. If you need help with any step of this posting feel free to start a live chat with me and i'll walk you through it. Let me know how it goes. Good Luck
