Your desktop will support a number of video cards available. You need to discern if your PC has an available PCI, PCI-E or AGP adapter slot on the motherboard. The preferred is PCI-E as that is today's going standard. However, inexpensive cards are available for all three standards. You can use a source like www.cnet.com for reviews of latest graphics cards as well as price comparisons from online vendors. Match up the type you want above and set out how much you are willing to spend. If you intend to play graphically intensive games, make sure you get a card that will support the features of those games (2D, 3D support, Direct X 9, 10?) Check the game package or official game websites for system requirements/recommendations for their games.

HOW CAN I INSTALL A NVIDIA GEFORCE 7200GS ON A HP 500B DESKTOP PC. IT IS CONFLICTING WITH THE ON BOARD VGA, THIS IS PREVENTING ME FROM USING THE GEFORCE AS A SECONDARY DISPLAY WHICH THE REASON I BOUGHT IT

Hello,

It appears that you have spent real time and money to upgrade your system.

I understand your problem. You want dual output VGA's to have two monitors setup with your system. The computer, HP500 has an onboard VGA out, and your add-on PCI express will not give you a second out VGA.

More than likely, HP / Compaq might not support this configuration with thier CMOS>

Maybe better soloution would be since you already have a VGA and DVI video outputs from your new PCI express board would be to go into BOIS and disable your onboard VGA. The VGA should then revert to the new PCI express board. You then could connect the second monitor to have both on the PCI express board. If you have only VGA (blue type) connectors, you can get a DVI to VGA adapter.

At Newegg online or Tiger Direct should have them if needed for less than &10, plus S&H.

Good Luck

Got a geforce 8400 gs pci express graphics card and it does not fit in my olc pc. is there an adaptor i could get that would solve the problem as i cant take it back as its been opened?

Hi there,

1. You need to know what type of bus your mobo has. e.g. PCI, AGP

2. The adapter you are looking for is not available, there is something called RISER card. it is only for pcie to pcie used as a replacement for low profile graphics card. if there are such adapter it would be expensive.

3. You have to upgrade or swap it to some one who likes your card for an additional amount of money. it depdends on the market value of the card to be swapped.

Hopefully this information helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

If it is connected it will come loose. I believe it is for the cooling fan on the card. Be careful with pulling it out it is just a two part deal. You may pull the plug but it will also come off maybe in two pieces or one whole piece. Whichever it will come off. Give it some pulling. John

I have a PixelView NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600 (click on the link to see it) graphics card and my computer started doing very strange things with my video and was locking up my computer. I pulled the card out and looked at the capacitors on it and saw the tops of them were bulging and stuff was leaking from them. The capacitors are the green cylinders with the silver tops and the gold/yellow writing. I replaced the capacitors and that fixed the problem but it would be easier to just replace the video card.

"Call of Duty" runs in slow motion on my PC.

Hi thomas,

Upgrading video cards will definitely increase in performance. You asked whether you should upgrade your entire PC or just the card and that really depends on the hardware you are running. If all of your hardware just barely meets the requirements than upgrading the videocard WILL give you a noticeable improvement but obviously it will not be as good as getting a better CPU and more RAM as well as a new card.

A good measure of a cards performance is based on the series of cards it is from. Your Geforce is from the 6000 series of Nvidia cards, they have 7000, 8000, and even 9000 series cards atm.

I would recommend something like an XFX Geforce 9800 GTX+ series card with 512MB of onboard memory, or any other competing card in the 200$ price range. This will definitely give you an increase in performance, and is a very popular card.

Hope this helps and please take a second to rate!

Setting up dual monitors with NVIDIA 7300 GS Graphics Adapter

so...
your computer don't recognize your nvidia graphic card in PCI Express slot.
you are runing now with computer's integrated graphic card?
if so then you won't have dualview option. in this case it looks for me like you've installed in the wrong way your graphic card.

your NV GeForce 7300 GS has 2 video output?
if yes then you should have the option for 2 monitors on nVIDIA control panel (i have check my nVIDIA GeForce 7600gt and in my case this option is present but is enabled only if i connect the second monitor, so try do so)

you have installed the latest nVIDIA drivers from the official website? http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

check if your video card is corect installed start/run type in " devmgmt.msc ". it will open device manager and under the display adapter tab you should see what video card you use now.

Added a ge force 8400 gs pci grfx card to hp a6120n monitor

Alright, let's give this a shot. Your system can handle it as the card only needs 71W of power.

Right-click your desktop and go to properties.

Screenshot.

Afterward select the tab at the top reading, "Settings."

Screenshot.

Now select your new video card in the, "Display" region and choose the device to be your, "Primary Monitor."

Screenshot.

Afterward try plugging the monitor into your new graphics card. It should work just fine.

yes your computer will accept this video card. i have the same computer as a backup. in fact, if you had the money to do so you could upgrade this to a far better video card without worrying about the power supply.
