Question about HP Officejet 4315v All-In-One InkJet Printer
When you lift lid to scanner pad, does bulb light up? It should also move slightly as if to prepare for a scan. If these things do not occur, something is definitely wrong with the scanner itself and will require a technician to service.
If bulb does light and carriage moves, then you should try using the buttons on printer control panel and try to use software on computer to try a scan.
If the control panel button works, then it's a software issue. You can try different software like HP Directory or any photo software with input from scanner feature.
If software works, but control panel doesn't, you'll need a technician to fix the panel.
If neither work, we are back to a problem with the physical scanner. That requires a technician to look at it.

In windows, go to the start menu, then control panel, then printers. When you have that open, double click on your printer. This will bring up the queue of all documents waiting to print. You can then highlight them and delete all of them.
