Down laod xp recovery disk

If you're running Windows XP and Windows crashes or becomes unusable, you may have to run a Windows XP recovery setup disk to make your computer usable again. When purchased, many computers don't come with a Windows XP recovery setup disk, but you can download one for free from Microsoft. The Windows XP recovery setup disk holds the computer software and files that you need to assist you in rebuilding your operating system.

Place a formatted floppy disk in your floppy disk drive. You will need six formatted floppy disks. Visit Microsoft's Download Center and download the version of the setup disk for your version of Windows (see links in Resources). http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=E8FE6868-6E4F-471C-B455-BD5AFEE126D8 Home Edition http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=8030 Professional Edition set up disks for floppy http://www.download3000.com/download_17676.html XP Recovery CD Maker Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional Edition have their own recovery setup disks and you must use the correct disk for your version of Windows. Click "Download" and then "Save." Find your floppy drive or optical media drive on the menu and click "OK." If Windows isn't functioning at all, you will have to perform these actions from a working PC. Remove the last floppy disk when the Windows XP recovery disk download is complete and place it in the computer on which you need to use it. Shut down your computer and then turn it back on. If your computer prompts you to boot from the disk, press Enter. If it doesn't, you'll have to go into your BIOS to set the computer to boot first from your disk drive. When your computer boots from disk it will automatically start running the Windows XP recovery setup disk from which you can then set up Windows XP. Hope this helps.

I installed linux ubuntu remix on my ASUS Eee 1001PXB-BK301 multiboot, then i deleted ubuntu after not using it anymore using windows xp disk mangement and found myself without a mbr with grub saying grub...

What you need is SATA controller drivers to be downloaded while starting windows xp disk or ERD Commander.
Since Asus Eee does not have an internal Floppy Disk Drive (FDD), you need to use an external USB FDD.:
Step one: You would like to connect an external USB FDD.
Step two: copy scsi/sata Hardware Access Layer (HAL) Drivers for you laptop to a floppy disk
Step three: during the XP boot process press F6 and follow the prompts to insert a floppy disk with HAL scsi/sata drivers.
Step four: Finish the boot process and run fix MBR.

There is another easy way:
If you can get a Knoppix USB flash drive, you can boot it up from Knoppix and run the following command in the terminal window: sudo ms-sys -m /dev/sda.

Hope This Helps

Cant reformat C:\ to re-install XP.

Install XP using a CD and start the setup from CD
when you are asked to do something on your harddisk, first you delete existing partition and create new partitions, then you do a full format.

hope this will solve your problem.

Note : Boot your system from Windows XP Installation CD / Restore CD

I can not install windows XP on Toshiba Satellite U300, windows

You must have latest Windows Xp CD .
Latest Motherboard chipset does not recognise hard disk without proper sata raid or sata driver. So you can install sata driver if u have USB floppy drive by downloading latest Sata raid to floppy. At the time of installation you will see a message press f6 to if u need to install raid driver.then press f6 asking for floppy drive and floppy insert press enter to continue.

You need to download the SATA driver for your hard drive to a readable disk and reinstall xp and when the xp installation ask if you need to install 3rd party driver tap F6 and load the driver from the readable disk you put the drivers on,(This cannot be done on the same drive that contains the xp install disk since removing the disk would stop the installation)I recommend a usb drive,But you will need to enable boot from usb device in the bios first.Or if you have a floppy drive That would work too.

Hi, your Windows XP install CD doesn't have SATA drivers for the hard drive included, so it's not able to address your hard drive. You can't disable SATA in the BIOS to make it work since your hard drive is still SATA. You'll need to get a 3.5" floppy disk and drive if your laptop doesn't have one. They make external 3.5" USB floppy drives that will work.

1. download the SATA drivers for your laptop (iastor.sys and inf)
2. copy the drivers to your floppy disk (about 6-7 files)
3. plug the floppy drive into your laptop
4. boot to the Windows XP CD
5. as soon as the installation starts, it asks you to "Press F6 to specify RAID or controller drivers" - Press F6 now
6. When setup asks for it, point it to the floppy drive
7. Installation will continue and find your SATA hard drive

Ta-da! Rock on with your bad self.

Installing XP on a preinstalled vista comp

Go to manufacturers web site download raid drivers, specifically the F6 disk driver and make a floppy with it. When you start xp cd it will say press F6 to add disk drivers, hit F6 and wait until it asks for floppy. If you don't have a floppy, get one, because if you need the driver, it is a difficult process to make it work without floppy driver disk. Some manufacturers have a way to do this with a memory stick, but I have never had much luck that way. The last way is to create a new xp disk with the drivers slipstreamed in. You can get free nLite software to do that at http://www.nliteos.com/
