It is very likely that the latch is not centerd properly in alignment with the catch. The solenoid that drives the locking mechanism is not very strong and requires perfect alignment. You may want to try loosening the holdown bolts a little and closing and opening the hatch a few times then tighten the bolts down again. Thank you, Dana

My remote start stopped locking my trunk when I lock my doors. So I have to lock it with the key. How can I fix it back so the remote locks the trunk as well?

Hi Tamika, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

Tamika, I'm not sure what vehicle you have but, there are only 2 styles of trunk lock actuators. (1) Is built into the latch itself and if you have this style the latch will need to be replace. (2) The other style will have a rod running from the latch over to a lock actuator, with this style you'll need to replace the lock actuator. NOTE: With either style, you'll first need to make sure you have power and ground to it, and if you have both power and ground then it needs to be replaced. If you do not find either power are ground you'll need to find out why and repair that problem. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website here: http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

Tailgate door wont latch

IT sounds like you closed the Trunk/ Liftgate with the Latch partway closed. Lube the Latch and hopefully it is not bent. If it is not latching, you can try and ensure it is aligned propery (use a piece of Tape and see where it is hitting the STRIKER...

If not, you are going to be replacing the Latching Mechanism.

The trunk lock latch is in the lock position in the trunk and the key will not open the trunk in a 1994 pontiac grand am

Often, the trunk latch does not get lubricated enough(I can tell you from my dealer tech experience that places like Jiffy Lube NEVER service the body latches).Try pulling the release handle while some else "slaps" the trunk lid. This usually works on the hood, trunk, and remote fuel door release.I would see many Grand Ams that were only 2-3 years old with these problems.

My trunk will not close

There is a possibility that the remote latch cable is stuck (lubrication is gone) . With a screwdriver, NOT the fingers, try to return manually the latch, to its open position (instead of the pull open position). If you push it too far, it will go into locked position, and when you pull down the trunk lid, it wont reach its normal closed position. In that case, pull the latch back open, with the remote lever. Should you manage to close the trunk properly, spray some WD40 or some lubricant on the latch assembly.

Trunk release switch does not work

1) check trunk fuse
2) check if there is voltage at the trunk latch and that you can hear the solenoid at the latch activate.
3) if voltage present and solenoid does activate. Try lubing the latch. May be binding.
4) voltage present, solenoid activates, latch lubed. trunck still does'nt open. replace solenoid

New batteries but remote won't click the door(s) or trunk. Ron

try programming the remote again, here is how u do that. if this doesn't fix the problem the remote may be defective, if you need a new one try ebay, they are very cheap to buy there.

.

Note: Existing keyless remotes will be erased with this procedure.
Existing working remotes will have to reprogrammed also.
1. Locate the programming connector wire located in the RH trunk area.
You may have to pull back right side trunk trim on trunk wall to locate
the single black/white wire.

2. The programming connector wire should have one termial in the plastic
connector on end of black/white wire. Ground the terminal in the connector
to a nearby bolt or trunk latch.
Leave connector wire connected to ground through out procedure.
3. System will now lock and unlock doors automatically to indicate
programming mode has been activated.
4. Press any button on keyless remote. System will respond by locking
and unlocking doors one time to indicate successful programming.
5. Repeat step 4 for to program any additonal keyless remotes including
and existing keyless remotes. Do not remove ground wire between
programming of keyless remotes.
6. Disconnect programming connector wire from ground to exit programming
mode.
7. Test keyless remote(s).

Door locks not working properly.

one of the front door latches is out of adjustment or bad. when you lock it at the trunk try the front doors to see if they might still open when the alarm is set if so that is your bad latch. bad news is to replace it you will need to tear down the entire inside of door
