Question about Canon PowerShot S1 IS Digital Camera
The camera has just started taking pics like this
Everything else works fine, viewfinder, LCD.
Video mode is still fine.
I suspect a firmware corruption but I can't upgrade as it already has 126.96.36.199 which I think is the latest.
Does anybody know how to force a flash update - I want to override the "already updated" message the camera gives me when I try to update the flash.
Failing this is it possible to download the flash to the PC so I can compare it with the official 188.8.131.52?
This isn't a firmware problem. This looks like a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should will this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:
