Cold water reservoir replacement

I need to replace the cold water reservoir in the back of my fridge, is this something that is easy to do? Are there any online manuals/instructions you can point me to?

Easy to do if you have a couple insta-push fittings. You need two 5/16 OD ones (just like the one behind the grill where the water line from the freezer door hinge connects to the water line comming from your refrigerator.) The 5/16 OD size is not very common (you may not be able to find them at many hardware or plumbing shops) but you can order two ( part number WR02X11330) when you order the new water tank.
Now, you will just use a sharp knife to cut the inlet and outlet tubes to the old tank, remove it, replace with the new tank, and push the ends of the tubes into the insta-push fittings and you are done.
On a difficulty scale of 1 - 10, I'd rate this one about a 2. Go for it!

I replaced the cold water tank in my GE fridge, but the plastic tubes into and out of the tank LEAK WATER at the blue plastic quick disconnects - one at the water control valve and the other at the tube quick disconnector under the freezer door. What did I do wrong? I pulled out the white plastic collar, removed the old tubes (had to use pliers to pull them out), inserted the new tube, took it back out (to see how deep it went in), put it back in, and moved the white plastic collars into the blue connector. BOTH TUBES LEAK!

Some insta push fittings have a colored locking ring which must be removed so you can push the collar in, releasing it's hold on the tubing. If you just pulled the tube out, (without pushing the collar in toward the center of the fitting at the same time) you may have wrecked the fitting.

If you can see the two connectors where the reservoir connects to the water line and get to them it won't be hard. Most manufacturers suggest using a coil of water line instead of the original because of flaking problems.

Whirlpool side by side Fridge Freezer S20BRBB20

Your fridge is simply not defrosting itself or moving air off the freezer coil. Try defrosting it and make sure the fan is operating. If the brains have been replaced already i do not think you should have to deal with them again unless consumer reports suggest otherwise.

ZFSB26DRESS water runs warm and freezer not staying cold.

It sounds like the condenser coils , the coils by the compressor , need cleaned badly . This (and the compressor cooling fan) , can cause the compressor to cut off on overload (due to the heat) , thereby not circulation refrigerant thru out the freezer coils .
The water line goes from inside the freezer door ( cold ) , under the refrig ( warm ) , then to the inside refrig water reservoir ( cold ) . After that , you should get cold water , until the reservoir is drained of cold water .

Water smelly bad taste. Sat for two months during kitchen remodel. Filter has been changed, and water flushed and ice cube ran several times. Can plastci lines be replaced? thanks.

When the fridge was turned off during that time ,the water left over inside the reservoir(plastic container inside the refrigerator side where the water keeps cycling and staying cold) might gone bad and contaminated the reservoir,in this case the reservoir needs to be replaced. But first try replacing the water supply line , if it's copper or a gray plastic pipe ,also could give bad taste to water.

Kenmore refrigerator making spraying noise

Beth, sounds like your water reservoir in your fridge section has cracked. To get to it, remove the lower bins and shelves. You'll see it mounted on the back wall. After you see it, test by filling a cup of water from the dispenser on the freezer and watch the reservoir for the leak. To replace it, you'll need to contact your local appliance parts store and provide them with the complete model number (located on a sticker inside your fridge). It'll start with 3 digits then a decimal point then more digits (xxx.xxxxxxxx). Most reservoir replacement kits come with instructions and all the hardware you'll need. Hope this helps!
