Ruth_coleman, Only a guess but I would say that the "switch-mode-power-supply" or "backlight inverter power supply" has a problem. Is screen always BLACK? how old is unit? How many "ON" hours on this unit? Is unit new? Out of warranty? Did it ever display a PERFECT IMAGE on it? When? Did it always HUMM?? FYI check out VIDEO clips of LCD monitor disassembly and repair on YOUTUBE to find out what is inside a typical LCD display. You will have a better handle on what to do about getting it repaired or to trade in for new. Yes, monitors can be REFURBISHED with new SMPS/Inverter boards for $50-$100. Check out some ADs here on fixya. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@aol.com please rate this response and get back to me if you need further assistance. Bye for now.

Car surging at idle, and making humming noise.

I can relate my experience with a similar noise on my 1994 car with Traction control. A electric valve in the air intake made a "Hum" or "Buzzing" noise when malfunctioning. For my car, the valve was suppose to reduce engine RPM so the wheel spin was stopped by choking off the air to the engine.
So the electric valve on your engine may be getting a bad signal from the Traction control system especially since you are not applying power. Or simply the electric contacts in the part you mention are worn out and "buzzing" because the contact points are burned out and can not connect.

Humming sound cumin from my creative inspire 4.1 woofer

Make sure that you've fully pushed in the jack to the sound card.....maybe you've not connected the jack into the correct socket on your soundcard as there are usually 3 identical sockets...but only 1 is the correct one. Sometimes colour-coded green. Try it in each one in turn. If you have headphones, try plugging them in as you will hear sound in them when you've got the correct socket!

Why is it making a humming noise

If it is humming ONLY when you connect it for charging and does not hum when you have no load on it...it has too much initial load and the humming is caused by an output current overload.
I don't know what you are trying to charge....if you are VERY careful and you can monitor the output current load....you may be able to get a charge....BUT BE VERY CAREFUL!
