Question about Vertex Radio Communications
VX210 GIVES 3 TONES WHEN PTT PRESSED. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Check to ensure you don't have the "WIRES" setting enabled. A common issue with Yaesu radios. You can turn it off with a combination of a "F" key press and the button that has a little symbol that looks like an atom with electrons orbiting it.

a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

This is usually due to a stuck or shorted ptt line. I have repaired a couple of these and it was the same component each time. The packet TX transistor Q65 shorted causing the radio to power up in TX inhibit mode. Transistor Q65 is located on the underside of the IF board under the ACC 2 connector. This switching transistor is used only for tx (pin 9 of acc 2) and no other circuits depend on it. It can be removed completely if you don't mind not having ptt on acc 2.
This seems to be a common problem lately, I hope this helps you.
