SOURCE: My black ink will not print. If I change the colour, it prints find. It is a new cartridge.

First you need to ensure that this is not a driver problem, by reinstalling drivers and testing the printer on a different computer.

Also ensure that ink cartridges are OK, try replacement inks.

If the problem is not a software problem, and the printer is recognised by computer, and the printout is coming as a blank or faded page, then you usually have a faulty or clogged printhead.

Try first performing print head cleaning procedure from printer tools, that may not fix the problem, but do the cleaning a couple of times, just in case.

If the print head is clogged, that can be fixed soaking the print head in isopropyl alcohol overnight.

If still no luck, then the printhead must be replaced, here is the part: Canon MULTI-PASS F-80 Print Head $61.00

SOURCE: no black ink printing all other colours okay

This is getting to be a very common problem that I've found almost constantly with the HP88 K/Y (Black/Yellow) printhead. The problem is that the Black ink is pigment ink and in certain environments this just clogs to the point that no amount of cleaning will actually resolve the clog and you have to replace the printhead. The only long term solution I've been able to find is to replace the black cartridge with a 3rd party dyebase ink cartridge and run this through a NEW printhead to replace the pigment ink in that. Dyebase ink does not have any of the same problems and will work perfectly. The only trade off is of course that you lose your warranty and there is a certain amount of ink "bleed" where the edges of black are more fuzzy from ink mixing while it's wet but this is fairly minimal and as the L7580 is only really a document printer (rather than a photo one) it shouldn't make a huge difference. I've used this approach to great effect both at home on an L7680, K5400 and K8600 plus on the same models in 3 different schools where this clogging issue occurred so it's tried and tested. Hope it helps.

SOURCE: black ink will not print. Colours ok

Neither solution will help, Brother has had some bad printheads and the only repair is to install a new printhead. It's a shop repair and runs around $170.00. Under warranty there's no charge. The thing you really don't want to do is blow air into the system as it takes another full ink to get the air bubbles out. Sorry for the Stupid help above.

SOURCE: EPSON R265 cd/dvd printer can

In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.
Activate head cleaning before a test is taken . Sometimes it is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the PC command or can be an issue with ink drying or
poor ink cartridge contacts.

What is the cause of new cartridges running out of ink while checking trying to align print head?

You must replace the print head., as long as printer detecting that nozzles are not firing properly., it keep on cleaning the head, result it will drains the inks from the ink tanks...once you replaced both print head & tanks, take print outs at least twice in a week., perform nozzle cleaning once in a month to avoid this type of nonsense..

Hp Photosmart 6510 Black ink will not print

It is a known defect among many PhotoSmart printers, including the 6510. The black ink was programmed to fail at between 50 to 60 black print cartridges. One HP whistleblower said a bug in this programmed failure causes the black ink to suddenly stop printing after 5 to 6 black ink changes instead. When you call in, they offer to sell you a new printer! The service guy I spoke with was extremely nervous. I refused to buy a new printer, given I had put less than a ream of paper through mine. I was on hold for about 10 minutes, then told there was no supervisor, but given an email address to write to. Three weeks later, still no response. Yes, a class action lawsuit needs to happen, not just for the printer malfunction, but for the hours I soent trying to fix it, and new cartridges I bought, thinking I had bad ones.

Epson sx200 printer, wont print black ink only

Many printers especially Photo ones also use colour even when printing Black. so you do need to replace the spent colour cartridge.

If you only need to print in black get a B&W printer not a colour one.

My printer will not accept a new black cartridge.

ITS NOT THE BLACK CARTRIDGE!!! Try changing the colour cartridge and see what happens. When a 9600 checks ink levels it does the black ink first, then the colour, if the colour is low it goes back and checks the black again but will constantly give an error message for the black cartridge. Sounds bizarre but try just the black cartridge in with no colour. print a test page in black only, if that does not print then it is a fault. Also make sure the driver is updated!!!

Does not print black

Most likely you have no black cartridge installed or it is empty causing your printer to use the colour cartridge for black. But if your colour cartridge has 1 colour which is less full than the others it causes black to become greenish or sometimes reddish depending on which colour is less. A new cartridge or a black cartridge will solve the problem.

Ink cartridge problems

exchanged the black cartridge (57): the printer told me there was a problem with it, that I should remove it and re-insert it. I did, the ink button still blicks. After several efforts the printer started to work again, printed one document and then told me there was a problem with the colour cartridge. I removed it, re-inserted it several times. Finally a test page was printed - everything was okay.

Then the printer refused to print anything - the yellow LED lamp blicks continuously. Have turned the printer on and off, have also shut down the computer and re-started.

The only thing that will work now is the black cartridge, if I remove the colour one.

its ok I solved it! I didn't realise that all the photo cartridge does is gloss over the colour picture produced by the colour cartridge. I simply had to replace the colour cartridge which had run out, so now its all working perfectly!!
