Hi there,

If its the 4hp classic type Briggs engine with the red primer bulb on the side of the carb then it needs a new diaphragm. Very cheap and simple repair.

see this link for a good picture + price

2006 Husqvarna yth2042 motor runs well, but has trouble accelerating and going up an incline

If the motor runs good at a low rpm, I want to say your problem lies somewhere in the governor. As you put load or strain on the engine the governor should increase the throttle speed on the motor. My guess is a wire, cable or something is rubbing on the linkage from the governor to the carb, if not the governor my need readjusted. I hope this helps.

check the linkage for the governor, maybe on the wrong side, when off it should be pushing the throttle wide open, the governor brings it down after start up!

Morrison 1400W electric lawn mower goes for 20 secs.

I would think that switch may be faulty? Or is it a momentary switch only?, if so, then you have an input to the controller problem, insomuch as it starts, runs, for some reason thinks there is a problem & shuts down, whereby the switch is being pressed, so it "Sees" this and starts again, and so on?

Engine starts easily, but runs flat out, no matter what the throttle setting is. Ignition cut out still operates correctly.

I am not sure what type or how old your mower is but most have whats called an "air vane governor". This system uses air flow and a spring to control a vane back and forth. One problem is debris sometimes collects in the system blocking air flow. When this happens the engine will over speed. The other is if the spring breaks or detaches from the governor.

You should avoid running the mower at all until you are sure you have found and fixed the problem. Over running can quickly cause catastrophic damage to the engine.
Inspect the governor and make sure it's moving freely and that there is no blockages in regards to the air flow. If you find that the governor is not moving freely you can attempt to control it manually when the engine is started but only after you have positively identified the governor as the problem.
If you are unsure where the governor is located please respond back with the make and model of your mower.
Hope this helps.

sounds as though you are on the right track
but be sure to check the wiring directly from the electric clutch on the front of the motor back to the switch
a wire could be pinched in the frame and shorting out intermittingly
look around and find those wires and move them around and look for chaffing and tightness
and what you could also do is to unhook the clutch at the connection to it at the front of the motor and engage switch and ride around and see if fuse blows and if not you may have an electric clutch issue

You have governor with a missing spring or it could be in the wrong place. If the springs are all OK then you may have a bad governor gear in the crankcase. This engine is bad about the governor gears bending the governor gear shaft.

It may think you are in reverse and is killing the motor to keep you from backing up with the blade running. Look for switch that is telling it when you are in reverse, maybe it is stuck with grass or other debris. another possibility is that the blades are jammed and they are stalliing the motor. Mines stalls easily when cold.
