Question about Acer TravelMate 2423NWXCi Notebook
If the heat sink air vents are on the underneath of the laptop, they must be kept clear at all times when the laptop is in use. Try using the machine on a hard tray, table or some other type of surface that keeps the vents clear. Sometimes, if you want to use the laptop on your knee, judicious positioning of it to keep the vents clear will sort the problem. If the laptop overheats when used in this manner, switch the laptop off, and try a vacuum cleaner with attachment to clear the debris from the heat sink via the vent holes. DON'T leave the vacuum nozzle on the vent too long, or get it too near the vents otherwise you may damage the fan bearings. Just be careful, and this can often solve the problem. If it's easy to dismantle the underneath to get at the vents this is preferable, but travelmates are notoriously awkward to do this to. Hope this helps. Kind regards
