I have a Zenith Big screen and During a Storm a tree limb knock down the Power line causing the Neutral to become disconnected, I had an extra ground installed. No after having the power restored My tv wouldn't power up, so I removed the back and found the 6 amp fuse blown, I found a 5 amp fuse at the local radio shack. I installed it and it blew as soon as I plugged it in. would 1 amp make that much difference? or would there be more wrong with the TV?

This tv the high voltage is dead. The FBT,this is a Flyback transformer is dead. The tv must replaced the FBT,it hard and dangerous to do,if never done it before.Hire a tv shop tech. to rplaced FBT,might need to trouble shoot on the deflection board also for other parts also burns.
Have you tried unplugging the tv and letting it sit for a while then plugging it back in?
also.. sometimes i have seen appliances that will flash the power light if an internal fuse has blown to indicate a problem. open it up if you feel you want to and check for a fuse around where the power cord comes in teh tv.
Thanks for using FixYa.This
might have happened due to over-voltage. Please check the power supply unit for
swollen capacitors and burnt wires/components on the power supply board of your
TV. You should try and turn off the TV for 8-10 hours to reset it. This issue
might have occurred due to blown pico fuses located on the D-Board or due to
blown fuse on the power supply board.

Hi; i have a 36 inched color television and it has a horizontal line going arcross the TV ,but it sounds like it is on but do not show a picture.Zenith Model# Sy3572DT and Serail# 781-4171582 I would like to purchase a part to replaced the old one could you help me.......
Most likely there was a power event (surge, brownout, ect) that caused the power supply to fail in the TV causing the fuse to blow. you will need to have someone come and look at the unit and give you an estimate. If you keep putting fuses in and blowing them you could actually be causing more damage.
You have bad convergence IC's.. If your not experienced in troubleshooting electronics or soldering, you should have a trained tech take a gander at the set. Its not worth risking life and limb to save a few bucks, Good Luck
