Check that you have power to the unit via the supplied AC adapter.

Otherwise you need to contact technical support. The unit sounds like it is damaged.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

How to add the Sony CCD TRV87 video to pc

This camcorder as far as I remember has not got a fire wire out connection however on the left side as you look at the lens there are various video and audio output connectors such as YC commonly known as SVHS.
To hook the camcorder up to a computer you need a box known as a break out box.
Basic it's a box that take the analogue video and audio signals into it and converts them to a digital signal.
The out put connector from the box is fire wire which will connect to a computer with a fire wire port.
Most modern laptops have a fire wire input in fact it's been around for a good 10 years.
There are many break out boxes on the market ranging from £70 to several hundred £ss.
I have a. ADVC300 the write up from the net is as followes.
ADVC300 is the ultimate bi-directional analogue to digital video converter unit for the video enthusiast. Featuring high-quality image enhancement technology including digital noise reduction and image stabilization using Line Time Base Correction(LTBC), ADVC300 instantly cleans, stabilizes and preserves old VHS and Hi8 videos in clean DV format. I was using the ADVC300 on my old MacPro G5. I just got a new iMac Intel 27" and can not figure out how to connect the unit to this machine.. Do I need a different cable then the IEEE-1394 since I do not...

connect box to Mac via FireWire

The connection would be, analog into device, firewire to computer. Play the analog device and import into iMovie, Final Cut or other editor. They should see the signal and therefore import to a digital file. Check with System Profiler to see if it sees the firewire device. If your software allows playing to the firewire device, the ADVC300, then you can record to those analog devices.
