Adding discrete graphics card to p6stp-fl

1) Unplug the computer from power.

2) Press the Power On button in, and hold it in for a count of 10 seconds. Let go. (HAS to be 10. Count)
Do this same procedure TWO more times.
(IF the Power On LED flashes for a second, keep repeating until it doesn't)

What you are doing is clearing CMOS Error Codes, and resetting BIOS Setup parameters back to the factory default settings.

3) FOLLOWING Anti-Static Precautions remove the graphics card.
Plug the monitor back into the Integrated (OnBoard) graphics, of the motherboard. (VGA connector)

4) Plug the computer back into power. WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer on.

5) When Windows has loaded wait a couple of minutes, then take that graphics card's Installation (CD) Disk, and put it in the optical drive.

If the disk doesn't start loading after 10 seconds, go to My Computer, and double-click on the drive letter, next to the optical drive, the Installation Disk is in.

When asked choose all software. Nvidia Control Panel, and drivers.

Your computer will keep on using the Integrated (OnBoard) drivers, for graphics. It will Not use the drivers, and software you are installing now, until the graphics card is physically installed.

Install all software. If you are asked to restart your computer -> NO
Close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.
Turn the computer off normally.
(Start > Turn Off Computer > Turn Off)

6) Unplug from power, follow Anti-Static Precautions.
Unplug the monitor from the motherboard. Physically install the graphics card.
Plug the monitor into the graphics card. Close the computer case.

7) Plug into power. WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer on.
You may have to go into Nvidia Control Panel, and set the correct parameters for your monitor. (Screen Resolution / Color quality )

Clear CMOS Error Codes, and reset BIOS Setup back to factory settings doesn't work?
You get to go back into BIOS Setup, and set the submenu you changed, (Or submenu's), back to the factory standard setting.

You are trying to use the OnBoard graphics drivers for the -> graphics card. This = NO.
You need THE drivers for the graphics card installed F-I-R-S-T.

(OnBoard. ON the motherBOARD.
Used to be used for Integrated Graphics.
Makes it easier to understand if you use OnBoard Graphics )

When a device, (In this case a graphics adapter card), is installed, Windows 'breaks it's neck' to find suitable, matching drivers.
If THE drivers are not there, Windows will match up one of it's THOUSANDS of generic drivers.

This = No.

You need THE drivers already installed. Windows looks to see what device is installed, then finds THE drivers needed.

Motherboard DP35DP Installation Problem

You should try a regular ps/2 mouse and keyboard.  You probably don't have the USB drivers installed for the new board.  After you get booted into windows you'll be able to install those.

I reinstalled Windows Xp pro when i upgraded my hard drive. Now, in sounds and audio devices it says i have no device. and there are no sounds

u need to install sound drivers from the CD that came with your PC
if u have a custom built PC then use the motherboard CD for the sound card installation....
if all efforts fail the the best solution for the time is
use a USB Sound Card adaptor, buy in Ebay for 1$, attach it to the USB port and connect the speaker sound oput jack in that adaptor...that will buy some time to solve ur sound card issue...
i too had the same issue and till date i am on my USB sound card system...i am Ok with it....

Device manager isnt recognizing my chipset for the display. I need to update the firmware.

If you mean your display monitor, you don't need to update the firmware of it. You should get a latest software driver supporting your operating system used and
It is not also necessary to update your chipset of your display card. You should identify first what is causing the problem. Maybe your motherboard graphics port is not working properly. But if your computer detects the card and it is not recognizing the chipset of it then you should get the latest working driver for your card.

Audio is install but not work?

good day sir, hi, check your speakers audio wire, it migth be open, to test, plug your speakers, on a portable mp3 player, or another pc with sound, if your speakers are good then it could be any of the followings:
  1. your sound driver installed is not correct, or incomplete, locate your CD driver disk and run it again.
  2. If you cannot find your CD, download the driver from this site:
  3. If you have the CD, and still your sound card does not work, check your sound card status , right click my computer, properties, hard ware, then device manager. look at the sound video and game controller. Ig it has (!) or (?) means that there are hardware conflicts. You need to reinstall windows to solve these conflicts.
  4. If still no audio, check your sound card, or swap out a good sound card and see if it will work.
  5. If still no sound and all sound card seems not to work. get a USB sound card, plug in the USB sound card and thats it. If it has a CD driver run the CD.
Let me know your progress.

Sound problem

There are a lot of drivers on the net that you could download for the sound card to work but first we need to know what kind of sound card that is installed on your motherboard. You could check your manual of the motherboard and try to find out what sound card is installed.

I/o Device Error

Scan system for virus, some viruses protect the use of USB devices.
Check in system BIOS that if there is an USB support option, it enabled.
Uninstall your USB driver, and re-install from windows CD/DVD, don't install USB driver from third-party.

Please let me know your feed-back.

How to turn off on board graphics card

get into the bios of your computer. (look it up on the internet if you don't know how) search around, there should be a setting in there for onboard graphics. most likely in a "devices" or "advanced devices". this is just off memory but keep searching and don't play around with other settings. ^^
