Question about Garmin StreetPilot c340 GPS Receiver

Streetpilot c340 will not power up. "USB Device not recognized"

"No good deed will go unpunished". My granddaughter asked me to upgrade her map from 2008 to 2009 or 2010. I connected the USB cable to my PC and I got a charging message. I turned the c340 on and left it on for about 20 minutes. The battery on my PC died so I powered it up with external power. When it came up, I got the message "USB Device not recognized" and no power on c340. I pressed the reset button with no help.

Unplug the GPS from the computer..Power off the GPS.. Restart the computer and then (with the computer power plugged in) plug the GPS back in..

This should clear the issue..

Have a great day !

There is no additional reset.. The only way to try another type or reset is to power the gps off,, take the battery out for at least 15 minuets.. Put it back in - then try again.. Do not alter the power source on the computer while the gps is charging.. Have the computer plugged in and not running on battery..

If this all does not work - then it would be most likely that there was a surge last time you altered power sources while it was charging and blew something in the gps unit - unfortunately..

    Best of luck !

It is your usb cable fault.
Change usb cable then connect it to computer's USB ports.
Try all ports 1 by 1.
Also uninstall all usb drivers from device manager then restart computer then check.
Go right click on my computer then click on proeprty then hardware ->device manager.
Let me know if you need more assistance.
Thanks.

I can't figure out how to get to Interface Options on my Garmin Streetpilot c340

When you go to the gar in site make sure your GPS is plug in to your comp. You will be ask to e terms the model and serial of your GPS then you will be able to see if there are any updates for the device. If there is the site will want you to download the update to your comp. Then it will tell you not to turn off your GPS most likely it does it all by it self. I have a GPS like yours I updated the map and the voice.

Why does my c340 keep losing satellite reception

Hello there:
please follow these instruction and this should help if not let me know and i willcontinue to get you more information for you
nstructions
  1. Step 1 Calibrate the screen of the Garmin StreetPilot C340. If the touch screen does not seem to respond when you hit it with your finger or a stylus, you may need to calibrate it. To do this, turn the unit off and then hold down the "Power" key for approximately one minute. You will see a calibration screen come up that will recalibrate the GPS2_bing.gif unit.
  2. Step 2 Reset the Garmin StreetPilot C340. If your GPS unit is not responding or is stuck on a particular screen, it may need to be reset in order to operate. To reset, remove the face plate of the unit by gently prying it off. Locate the "Reset" button under the face plate and press down in order to restart the device.
  3. Step 3 Change the fuse of the Garmin StreetPilot C340. If the fuse blows on the GPS, you will need to make a replacement using an ACG/3AG 2 amp fuse. Unscrew the adapter cord at the end and remove the fuse found there. Put in the new fuse to see if this returns function to the unit.
  4. Step 4 Update the software for your Garmin StreetPilot C340. If the GPS is not providing you with correct directional information, you may need to update the software or download new maps onto the device. Connect the Garmin StreetPilot C340 with the USB cord to your PC and log on the Garmin website for available updates.

Update for Garmin c340 GPS Receiver

to be able to update the C340 Streetpilot, you need a Secure Digital memory card (SD o SDHC) at least 1gb i will recommend 2gb.
log into www.garmin.com
you will see some tabs on top of the page like COMPANY - PRODUCTS - SOLUTIONS - MAPS -ETC.
Place your mouse on the maps TAB and select update maps.
It will open a new page with another tab that will say CHECK FOR UPDATES.
then you will see two o more options so you will have to choose what kind of device you have (the new cell gps, garmin nuvi, garmin streetpilot, etc)
after that it will ask yo to install a plug-in into your computer (you need to have the gps connected to pc) andit will scan the model and type you own and will then show you what is available for that unit (software like voices, maps, etc)

My Garmin C340 is dead!!!!

I had the same problem on a trip. Required two fixes and once I did this the unit worked fine.
1. Replace the fuse in the car adapter (reason it wasn't charging when I used it in the car).
2. See the users manual on page 31 regarding resetting your C340.

Garmin Streetpilot i3 GPS cannot load map to memory card

The Garmin C340 comes preloaded with maps while the I3 require that the maps be installed onto a micro sd card.

You can place the micro SD card into a SD adapter and use a regular card reader to download your maps. When the software ask for 'Device' to download to use the drop down arrow and find your drive letter associated with the card reader. Using a card reader will be much faster since the it is ubs 2.0 vs ubs 1.1

You could also go to Garmin website and download and install the USB drivers, see link below.
