Question about Refrigerators

Subzero 801 stopped making ice

I have an older (1993) Subzero 801 undercounter fridge/freezer with icemaker. A couple of months ago it stopped making ice. The ice tray isn't filling with water. I thought maybe the line was clogged so I blew it out with an air compressor but no luck. Any ideas on how I might be able to save this unit? It still cools and freezes perfectly but is the only ice maker I have. Thanks for any suggestions!!

Hi.
Blowing the water lines may not be a good idea. If you blow with compressor toward inlet valve , you can push the blockage toward valve. Most blockages are caused by ice, you unblock them simply defrosting the fridge completely.
The problem is likely caused by a faulty inlet valve.
The inlet valve is usually located at the back of the fridge, at the bottom. Being this an undercounter unit, the valve may be located straight on the rear side of icemaker assembly.
I could be more specific having the complete model number.
Here all parts for your fridge. alternatively enter model number on website.
Regards.

How do you get an icemaker in a subzero 650 refrigerator to stop making ice when the bin is full?

There should be a metal bar that flips when it hits the ice at a certain level. It should stop automatically. There is a problem with the sensor.

Subzero 501F icemaker slow in making ice

More thatn likely, being thats an older model, you are low on freom and the temperature isn't cold enough for the icemaker to keep constant production up. You maybe thinking the freezer is fine because stuff is frozen in there but that is why most people don't catch the problem until they lose all their food. The temperature for the icemaker to even come on is 10 degrees F. The sub zero freezer temperature should be around 0. Check your settings and make sure they are turned down but I would get a thermometer and put in the freezer and check to see what it says. If its above 5 degrees F check your condensor coils to make sure they are clean and also see it the condensor fan is running. If dirty, clean the coils and see if the temperature drops, if not call a service company.

Not getting any water out of the dispenser, but its making ice

The water dispenser on my GE profile fridge stopped working for a couple days. The refrigerator and freezer temperatures have fluctuated over the past several months causing fridge items to periodically freeze and freezer items to periodically thaw. GE tech came today identified a bad circuit board, which he replaced for a cool $300. Ouch. Fridge is only three years old. Oh yeah, the icemaker also has a broken tab which causes it to jam every couple weeks. We have GE Profile appliances throughout our kitchen and they all work great except for the fridge :-( I hope GE engineers read this post. If so, get to work! LOL

Undercounter Sub-Zero leaks onto floor

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

Air in line to Subzero icemaker

Are you sure there is still water available to the ice maker?

Having a little air in the line might make the water spit a bit but it should be quickly purged and function again.

Also, lift the stop lever on the ice maker inside the freezer compartment, then let it back down to cycle the ice maker and see if that re-initiates the ice making cycle. You'll know because there will be water in the ice tray. It may take a few minutes to cycle.

It's also possible that when the water was turned off and back on, some debris in the water line made its way to the water valve for the ice maker and plugged it. Some units have a screen that can be cleaned, but make sure the water is off to the fridge before disassembling this line and attempting to clean any debris.

If your fridge has a control board on the back of the unit, un plug the fridge for about two-three minutes and then plug it back in to reset the system.

If you did get it to work again, toss the first two to three sets of ice just in case there was dirt in the line.

Subzero 500 series ice maker

It sound's like you have a faulty icemaker. The icemaker has an internal timer that commands the inlet valve on at the correct time. If it does not stop the command, it will continue to fill. When you shut off the system, it kills power to the icemaker and that is why the solenoid goes off.
