Mtd 42" riding mower rear drive belt keeps popping off pulley

Hi, check the idler pulley arm and return spring on that belt. Its most likely not pivoting freely allowing the belt to loosen when you operate the clutch, regards Phil.

I need a manual or step by step instructions to change the belt on my Toro Personal Pace mower

The mower should be drained of gas and drain the motor oil before starting procedure.
Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug.
.
Motor side of the belt:
.
Remove two bolts under the lawn mower body which holds the top cover over the drive belt.
Remove the belt guard that is around the pulley on the crank shaft.
Then work the belt around the blade and off the the drive pulley.
.
While blade is removed, sharpen or replace as necessary.
.
Transmission side of the belt:

.
Remove the "S" clip on handle for speed / traction cable
Remove the plastic "Rear Baffle" two screws on each side on frame in front of rear wheels one screw in the rear

.
With the baffle removed, rotate the drive shaft and transmission to gain access
to the pulley drive belt guard, it is held in place with three screws.
.
Once belt guard is removed, you can easily remove the drive belt

.
Reverse procedure to replace the belt.

I need a belt diagram for a ranch king king plus also i need to know the size for the main drive belt

Ranch King is a brand name of the manufacturer MTD.

Product manuals with part blow-up diagrams are available from MTD's web site,
http://www.mtdproducts.com/
Models are identified from the model number printed on a label under the mower seat.
The PTO and deck drive belts are shown on one diagram and the transmission drive belt is shown on another. The Form number on my printed Operator's Manual is 770-10526A (22HP, 46in cut) for Hydrostatic 817/818 models.

Parts can be ordered directly from MTD or other distributors on the web.

It is my experience that original brand name MTD belts work best.

The 22HP, 46" mower deck Ranch King Pro has 3 belts:

The drive belt which runs from the engine pulley back to the hydro drive unit to provide over-the-ground propulsion is part #754-0349.

A mower has either an electric PTO or a manual PTO, not both.

The electric PTO belt the provides power to the blade deck (runs around the electric clutch on the engine shaft (activated by electric switch, not the mechanical hand lever that engages the mower deck) is p/n 754-0476 for the 46" deck.

The manual PTO belt the provides power to the blade deck (runs off the pulley on the engine shaft (activated the mechanical hand lever to the left of the steering wheel that engages the mower deck) is p/n 754-0228 for the 46" deck.

The deck belt that goes around the 3 blade spindle assemblies on the mower deck, to drive the grass cutting blades is p/n 754-0349

In my experience, the PTO belt lasts about half a season, the other belts break about every other season when mowing 4 acres weekly.

I have the same issue on my neighbors lawnmower.
Good thing is though, the manuals are available online.
Bad thing is the actual service manual, you can buy from their 800 number.
What I did, was merely copied pages from the parts manual, as well as the owners manual. Looks like my Craftsman, whereas you need to take the top off ( seat and back cover ) to get to the two drive belts.
It is not as bad as it looks, especially with the photos helping.
Word of advice, any pulley pley, replace all parts relevant, especially attaching nuts. If not, utilize a threadloocker. Ensure to torque to spec as well with torque wrench, the blades when doing those. Typically, people need to change these at the same time, as maintaining is usually not handled partially, it is usually not at all.

Need instructions how to install belt on self propelled craftsman push mower

raise the front of your mower up and support it with something safe like a jack stand
take the blade off
when your blade is off locate the plastic cover covering the belt and remove
now remove the belt but first remove the plastic cover on top of the mower to uncover the gearbox that turns the wheels your belt goes from the engine pulley to the gearbox pulley
you will have to work the belt off the pulley while turning the motor by hand or the same when installing the belt.
to install belt reverse the procedure.
hope this helps some
