My friend removed a UMD game halfway through loading on my PSP. The light turns on but the screen stays blank and then the light goes off again. I have tried charging it for a day - didn't make any difference - is there anything I can do to fix the problem? thankz Matt11

Have you tried turning on, but then hold the power switch down for around 10-15 seconds or until the power light simply turns off, no flashing. If not, then you should jump on the internet and look for a so-called Pandora Battery and Magic Memory Stick. They will actually install custom firmware on your PSP which you can remove later on, but if you use those, it should unbrick the PSP, so you can use it again.
did you dump or restore nand dump saves current nand restore deletes current nand and replaces it with one saved on memory stick.if it is bricked it doesn't necesarily need a nand repair nand is when you have issues loading firmware or issues with umd drive menu bar. so if you can load a firm ware load it don't touch the nand till it does not allow a firmware update and if you have some glitches after firmware update try idstorage rewrite in the nand tools.
the reason the umd wont load is because someone shut the psp off when the game was loading. so whoever did that just messed up your psp. i know cause someone did it to mine now i have to get it fixed or buy a new one. and to get the psp fixed its not guna be cheap.
This is terrible to say, and I feel bad for you. This sounds as though your PSP is Bricked. Tell all your friends if they are asked to upgrade by a game, plug up your PSP to the power cord and keep it charged during the upgrade needed to run the new games. If your power fails during the upgrade, you will BRICK your PSP. Contact Sony, its their fault. www.playstation.com
"tap" not hit.. the back of the psp, (where the game goes in on the back) and see if that works.. that will usually get the laser to read the disk.. perhaps the umd is dirty.. only tap on it "lightly" when you hear it loading.. i know that sounds stupid, but it worked for me countless of times.
If you are somebody another person had done the mistake while updating your PSP. For eg:
1) Removed the battery.
2) Unplugged the charger of your PSP.
3) Removed the UMD.
then it is possible that your PSP is bricked it means it is useless untill you replace the motherboard with a new one.
