Need part number 5046983 (plastic sliding temp adjustment) for a T-Fal deep fryer T1000.

Hook it using a finger from the centre of the paddle, or use a teaspoon. It should slide off the mounting posts easily. Don't use anything sharp, or prise it from where the silicone and plastic are tight together, as it may get damaged.

I would suggest that you go to www.theconsumerlink.com and click on appliance parts. Stroll down to T-Fal and search the detachable cord that is possibly the one you need for your fryer.

The cords appear to run $8-15 before shipping, and it is possible to do some limited mixing and matching between brands. If that concerns you, contact your brand's own customer service for replacement parts information.

Here is the one included with the T-fal Cool Touch Deep Fryer (available from Target). Its design is probably the most 'universal' or most 'compatible' of the various minor variations I've seen, as it doesn't have the 45 degree angle or the key-lip I saw on some other cords:
