Problem is your joystick is broken, I had the exact problem.

The plastic parts inside your tiny joystick is cracked due to abuse, likely someone pushed on it too hard, or banged it against something.. All it takes, is 50N, or 5 kilograms of force, to break it. It is a very delicate multi-axis inductive joystick made by Penny and Giles,

My advice is to replace the Joystick, which costs $200-300
A lot cheaper than replace the whole controller, which could cost $1000 or more.

By the way, if you ever decide to have that joystick replaced, I would love to have the broken joystick for parts. I'll pay for the shipping cost.

I have a shoprider steamer. It wants to turn right when I push the stick forward or backwards. When it does go forward, there is a kind of jerking to it. If goes left fine. On and off problem.

The free wheel levers have got to be in drive mode. if one is in drive and the other side is not then the chair will try to go in circles. So if the right side free wheel lever is not in drive position then the chair will try to drive to the right because the right motor is not turning the wheel. The wiring to the right motor may have become disconnected.

How do i lift off the chair out of the shoprider cobra scooter

Lift the lever to turn seat and locate the release point. I think the seat is facing to the left of the scooter, then lift off. If not check for lock screw.

Hills no power

Sounds like it might be in lock mode or the free-wheel is on. if i remember correctly to unlock push the joy stick forward and hold, turn on the power hold in forwared for about 10 seconds then release turn of and on and should be unlocked. if you are in free wheel push the scooter forward or backward if it is easy to move then the free wheel is on put it to off. and power on and you should be sorted.

A pulley or the tensioner isnt straight. Maybe why the old one broke?? you want to replace anything the belt touches while you have it apart. pulleys, tensioner, water pump.

If you have followed all the trouble shooting guide in the back of the manual then it could be one of a few things. either the Wig-Wag control is at fault (the lever you press to go forward/ backward) or the control/drive unit is at fault. You will need to take it to a service centre to have it looked at or repaired. Shoprider are made by Roma medical and their web site is ;- http://www.romamedical.co.uk/ if you need a manual you can download from here.

Hi. Has the machine been in regular use before the fault occured? You say that the brake is in brake release mode, this mode is only ever used if you need to push the scooter by hand. It releases the brake on the motor, and also operates a switch to disable the controller from driving the motor. It does this because it would be to dangerous to drive the scooter with the brake disabled.
Move the lever back to its correct position. If it still does not work, then the disable switch might be faulty, or it might be a different fault such as a stuck brush in the motor.
Is this machine produced by shoprider ( Phisang ) of Taiwan.
Please let me know how you get on. Neil.
