Question about Amana ACD2232HR Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Freezer nor refridgerator is cooling

I arrived home from work and found water on the floor of the kitchen at the bottom of the refridgerator. There has been a clicking sound as if something turns on for a short period and then it turns off. Is there a part that can be easily replaced to remedy this problem or am I in the market for a new unit?

Please help to save Christmas!

If the refrigerator has an ice maker or cold water dispenser, check the water line in back of the refrigerator. Be sure to unplug the refrigerator before checking anything. The feed line may be leaking. Repair is simple. Open the connection and wrap Teflon tape around the male end of the connection, then screw it back into female end of the connection.

Connect water pipe to refrigerators

READ COMPLETLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING. Should you not understand a portion of this either contact me or your local plummer.
You must have the valve for the refridgerator installed and then you can simply buy the needed compression fittings. This is available at the hardware store.
If you need a water line run from your water system there are kits at the hardware store (Westlakes etc) that usually stock a kit. Please note that this job can be very wet. You must have the water to whole home OFF before you begin this step!!! You need to clamp on a device included in the kit that goes to either side of the water pipe. there is a t-handle on this that after tightening you turn and it punctures the line. This is then never removed afterward. You run the plastic line up to and through the floor boards (assuming that you are working in the crawlspace or basement of your home). You must have the water to you whole home OFF when you do do this procedure!!!! Go to the kitchen and move your fidge away from the wall. You should have run the line match the outlet in the back of the refridgerator. The tubing will come through the floor and you must attach a valve that should also come in the kit. I have also seen these parts separately it differs from store to store. The valve is another compression fitting. attach it finger tight and then snug it up with a wrench. Watch for leak in all areas when you have attached the line to the refriderator. Review all work carefully. That means you need to go back under the kitchen and check that and the tubing for leaks. Here is a really good video by Big Tony. Great guy.

Heater takes more than 1 minute to get water to kit faucet , then temp fluctuates

1) Guesses: Sounds like a bad single-handled faucet cartridge, or low water flow at faucet, or clogged water filter.
Replace faucet cartridge, clean the aerator, and/or clean sediment out of pipes below sink, and clean water filter at tankless unit each month.

2) For exact measure of problem:
Typical faucet can have 2 gallon per minute flow rate.
2 gpm flow rate means faucet fills 1 gallon container in 30 seconds. Test faucet using 1 gallon container and a cooking timer to get flow rate.
Clean aerator to improve flow rate. Compare kitchen flow rate with other faucets in home.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Low-hot-water-pressure.html

Most homes have 1/2" diameter pipe running to kitchen faucet.
100 feet of 1/2" diameter pipe holds 1.2 gallons of water. This assumes no sediment build-up inside pipes.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-heater-recirculation-system.html

Assuming only hot is turned on: If faucet is 100 feet away from water heater, and pipe diameter is unobstructed 1/2" diameter, and faucet has 2 gallon per minute water flow, then hot water should arrive in 36 seconds.
50 feet away, and hot water should arrive in 18 seconds.

If kitchen has single handled faucet, and the handle is raised in the middle, then equal amounts of hot and cold water are drawn at same time. This doubles amount of time for hot water to arrive.

If single handle faucet has a bad cartridge, then faucet can have crossover.
Crossover means that cold water can enter the faucet even if faucet is turned to hot.
Bad single-handled faucet cartridge can delay or stop the arrival of hot water.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Crossover.html

Tankless require maintenance including cleaning combustion parts yearly, de-lime heat exchanger frequently, and clean water filter each month.

My Jenn-air refridgerator freezer section leaks water and builds up on bottom of freezer, defrosts then leaks out

sounds like you have a clogged defrost drain. when the unit self defrosts, the meltwater from the evaporator is supposed to go down a drain under evaporator, to a condensate pan underneath. when this drain gets clogged at any point, the water then drips into the freezer floor, freezes, eventually over fills the floor, and leaks onto kitchen floor. Do not try to snake out the drain, as it is plastic and usually not permanently attached, snaking can damage or dislodge the tubing, making problems worse. If you have a compressor, you can direct some compressed air into the drain to clear out any obstructions. Again, use caution against too much pressure, to avoid dislodging tube. Any reliable refrigerator repair service shouldnt charge much more than $100 to resolve this issue.

Whirlpool refridgerator is leaking water on the freezer side (side by side refridgerator) onto the floor. The ice machine was overflowing with ice and has frozen ice in the ice maker that won't budge. We...

WAS IT LEAKING FROM INSIDE THE FREEZER OR FROM BOTTOM OF FRIDGE? ONCE IN A WHILE YOU NEED TO TAKE OUT THE ICE BIN AND DUMP ICE OUT AND CLEAN IT. HOW CAN THE ICE MACHINE OVERFLOW WITH ICE WHEN THE ICE IN THE TRAY WON'T BUDGE? NEED CLARIFICATION. SOUNDS LIKE YOU EITHER HAVE A BAD ICE MAKER MODULE OR THE SOLENOID FOR THE ICE ON THE WATER VALVE IS BAD.
