Re: text, mms and call log

It is a known issue with means you have low memory....check your file free for memory by goign to options, will be the file free (listed in bytes). if there is anything lower then 4,000,000 bytes (3 MB) then you have low memory. i sugest purchasing a memory card and transfering your data over there....if you do, figure out where that info is going by pressing the menu button (while still in status) and selecting the option database sizes...

if content store has the largest byte size, delete info like pictures, email, sms, mms (if you have any left) a possibly games and themes (to delete games and themes, you have to run the application loader wich is the program that is installed on the cd that came with your phone). if you need assitance with this, contact your service provider. like i said, its a known issue.....they will know how to fix it.

Why can't I recieve multi-media messages?

2 reasons you cant receive mms messages. 1st you have to turn your mobile data on even if your on wi-fi and 2, your phone must be set up to receive them ( you do this by ringing your provider and ask them to send you mms settings , you will get a text from them with the settings in)

How do you change your blackberry pearl ringtone?

Step1- Go to Profiles (speaker icon), select that and you will get the options: Loud, Vibrate, Quiet, Normal, Phone Only, Off, and Advanced.
Step2 - You want to click on advanced. Once that is open, you will have the same options as above. Click on the one that you want to change.

Step3- Once you do that you will get the following options: browser, calendar, level 1 messages, messages (email addy), messages (desktop), messenger (alert), messenger (new message), MMS, Phone, Push to talk alert, push to talk message, SMS text, tasks.

Example: Loud (click the button to the left of the trackball and you will get several options like: browser, calendar, level 1 messages, etc.

Step4- Click on the one that you want to case of the ringer, it would be phone. then it gives you several other options like out of holster, tune, volume. You would go to "tune" click on that and change it to what you wanted your ringer to be.

I go to the mms on my 8350i and the compose mms is missing

Please follow the instructions VERY carefully and slowly.
If the steps are followed then it will work.

IMPORTANT: If you have done the fix correctly, i.e. step #4 says Legacy... and step #9 says 19 service books, (if you do not see the Legacy message at step #4, this repair WILL NOT WORK.)

when the fix is completed
When using the BlackBerry on WiFi for Internet set as follows:
Options/advanced / browser/hotspot browser then menu key - save

When using the BlackBerry on cellular (nextel) for Internet set as follows:
Options/advanced / browser/browser then menu key - save

To move from WiFi to cellular you must fully close the browser and Gmail and any Internet applications first; this means when in the browser you MUST click on the menu key and then scroll down and click CLOSE.

Need the settings for my phone to be able to brows on the internet.

Have you previously received the settings from your mobile network provider - usually in the format of a text message. If not speak to your network provider and request these features are enabled on your phone. They will send you a text message which you normally have to save (all instructions specific for your network) will be in the text message.

Call log and text messages have disappeared...

View free space by choosing OPTIONS - STATUS, & look at FILE FREE. On desktop, hold down ALT & press BACK/RETURN. A box shows all apps "running". (Red END button doesn't close the app -- sends to bkgnd.) Select one, and it opens... press MENU, scroll to CLOSE. This ends app/frees mem.

Missing text messages in blackberry pearl

I also have had this problem with my Blackberry Pearl. It has nothing to do with your SD memory card. First and foremost, blackberry shortchanged the pearl when it came to onboard memory size. You'll find this out when all of a sudden your call logs, text messages (SMS & MMS) and emails are deleted. When you receive a call it shows in your call log for only about a half hour and gets deleted again. To verify that it is a memory issue, go to options and click on status. If your file free is at 0, you need to free up some memory.

If you text message alot, this can happen quite frequently. Especially with MMS messages which use up alot more memory. Open your messages folder, click the menu key and click General Options. Make sure your phone is set to keep messages for either 15 days or 30 days. Also another thing is to make sure in your Camera options is that all pictures get saved to your memory card. If your pictures get saved to the phones memory, you will always have this problem until they are deleted or moved to your memory card. If you downloaded any games or applications to your phone, this can also be the problem. They make plenty of games and apps for the Pearl but didn't give the phone enough memory to use it all without eventually locking up the phone. This was my problem. I had a few games and a couple applications like Yahoo Go and Sudoku that I deleted and it helped out alot with my memory issues.

There are alot of other things you can do to help free up some memory but it would best if you just call blackberry tech support for your service provider and let them talk you thru all the steps. I've been very happy with T-Mobiles Blackberry tech support because they are separate from the normal customer service line. I've hardly ever had to wait to speak to a tech unlike the regular customer service which can take FOREVER!

I like the Pearl but these issues can certainly frustrate anyone that doesn't know how to deal with them.

Text Message alert???

In order to use tones other than the presets for text messages, you have to put new .WAV files on your phone. Any 8bit .WAV file will work; just connect with ActiveSync and navigate to your /Windows directory on your phone, and place the files there. You will then be able to use them as text message alert tones.
