The sound is perfect but no picture although occassionally when switching on the picture appears for a second or so. again on occasion a amall glow will appear centre bottom of screen

People are really going to kick themselves if they read this and have already thrown the tv away!! Try this fix, I had exactly the same problem as everyone else but every tv I swapped it with did the same thing so then I thought, I wonder if there is a remote somewhere being pressed down underneath something? So I covered up the sensor with a piece of blutack and boom the problem stopped and my tv started working perfectly ?? although I still haven’t found the remote in question but hey my tv works

Sounds like maybe air in fuel system, bleed fuel system and try.

If the sound is still heard then the inverter board has failed and is triping the powersupply,if no sound the powersupply has failed.

Does sound comes out of TV speakers? Or you have "home theater" hooked up to?
In first occasion: TV turns on, stays on, display blinks once, then nothing?
Inverter is at fault. Second occasion: TV turns on, stays on, display glows dark, sound OK, no picture: T-con board at fault. Third occasion: TV turns on, shuts off, sound is coming through "home theater"-OK. Power supply or inverter, or T-con are at fault. TV need major diagnostics and repair in every case. Let me know if you can handle that. Will guide you through the process.

It really sounds like it is just a dead battery. Take it out and bring it to Autozone. They will check it out for free.

Hello, I have exactly the same problem with the exact same TV, white screen for about 15 minutes and than image appears perfect as if nothing happened. I have asked an ebayer which sells TV parts and he suggested it could be a main board or tcon board. I am quiet hesitant to fix my tv, but if the tcon board would fix it, i'd go for it. Did You manage to solve the problem yet?

switched HDMI plug from HDMI1 to HDMI2 port and that solved the problem

Hello, This is going to be a problem with your igniter/glow bar. Over time these get old and although you may see it glowing iit still may be bad. Your igniter should glow a brillient yellow and should ignite the gas within 15 seconds of the valve opening.

In LCD TV such problems occur due to problems in the circuit board. So no option for you to go for repair to your branded company authorized personnal.

Probably heat sink compound on the audio IC. Fixed them before. I would imagine under $100 depending where you live.
