Question about Acer AL1714 17" LCD Monitor
I have DELL Inspiron 15 laptop with Vista Home Premium and I am trying to connect my Acer AL1714 LCD as secondary monitor to this laptop. Monitor is working fine with my desktop which is an XP. When I connect the display cable to laptop it does not work. Detailed steps:
1. Monitor's power on (monitor has an external power supply)
1.a. Green light on monitor comes on
1.b. Shows message "No Signal"
1.c. Message goes away and orange light comes up.
(Till now this is obvious behavior)
2. Connect display cable to laptop
2.a. Power adopter (on power cable) starts blinking its green light continuously
2.b. Monitor's light goes off (no orange or green)
2.c. Screen goes off - blank/black
2.d. Monitor does not respond to anything - neither on/off button nor dual display settings
2.e. Control Panel > Device Manager > Display shows two "Generic PnP Monitors" - obivously one is laptop and one the external connected LCD. Here it shows device is working fine.
3. Unplug display cable from laptop
3.a See 1.
Any idea, why monitor is not working with the laptop? I remember facing this kind of problem with my desktop once but I am unable to recall how it got fixed.
There is a symbol of Two monitors on F3 Or F4 button
1. Press Fn key and hold it
2. by holding Fn key press F3 key
Your monitor will start displaying
