Instructions

Dryer Does Not Turn On
1

Ensure that the dryer's power supply cord is firmly plugged into an electrical outlet.
2

Inspect the structure's fuse box for a tripped fuse. Each fuse is assigned a single "On/Off" switch. If any fuse switch is in the "Off" position, flip that switch to the "On" position. If the problem persists, contact a professional electrician.

3

Press the "Start/Stop" button on the left side of the dryer's control panel.
4

Close the dryer door firmly so that the door clicks into place. The dryer will not operate if the door is not shut.
Lint Filter
5

Clean the lint filter. Twist the program selector knob on the control panel to the "Off" position, then open the dryer door. Pull the lint filter out of the dryer. The lint filter is located at the front of the dryer's tumbler, and is inserted vertically into the dryer. Gently stroke your hand over the filter to clear the lint, then reinsert the filter and close the door.
6

Turn the dryer off and allow at least 30 minutes for the dryer to cool, as excessive heat can cause a drying program malfunction.
7

Increase the ventilation of the room the dryer is located in, such as by opening a door or window. Excessive heat will cause the dryer to automatically turn off until it cools as a safety measure. Increasing the ventilation will help keep the dryer cool.
Clothing Not Fully Dry
8

Clean the moisture sensor. Open the dryer door to access the moisture sensor. The black-colored sensor consists of two bars, and is located at the front of the dryer's tumbler, to the left of the lint filter. The sensor should be cleaned with a clean cloth and white vinegar once per month.
9

Clean the lint filter. Twist the program selector knob on the control panel to the "Off" position, then open the dryer door. Pull out the lint filter. The lint filter is located at the front of the dryer's tumbler, and is inserted vertically into the dryer. Gently stroke your hand over the filter to clear the lint, then insert the filter back into the dryer and close the door.
10

Spin the laundry at a higher spin speed in the washing machine before placing the laundry into the dryer to reduce the moisture content.
11

Turn the dryer off and allow at least 30 minutes to pass for the dryer to cool, as excessive heat can cause a drying program malfunction.

Maytag DG410 gas dryer-no flame, no heat. I replaced the ignitor - that apparently isn't the problem. Other ideas?

Motor runs, but main burner will not ignite
1.heat switch set wrong---correct switch setting
2.defective timer or timer circuit---check timer wiring--replace timer motor or switch as needed
3.defective centrifugal switch in motor---clean switch or replace as needed
4.gas supply valve closed----open gas valve
5.inoperative solenoid coil---test coil for open circuit & the voltage to it
???
Pilot burner goes out
1.insufficient gas supply---- low gas pressure or clogged pilot filter or partially closed gas valve
2.carbon deposit on thermocouple tube---clean tube & check pilot burner for proper combustion
3.improperly adjusted pilot flame--adjust pilot flame until faint yellow tip begins to appear
4.faulty ignition or reset valve or thermocouple---replace

Clothes not drying, but dryer runs & heats
1.defective operating thermostat---test thermostat, replace if defective
2.fan or it's pulley loose on shaft---tighten set screw
3.incorrect heat or timer settings---reset timer
4.clothes to wet when placed in dryer----wring out or extract water from clothes before placing in dryer
5.clogged lint screen or duct (little air motion)---clean out lint screen & duct

How to know if the blower motor isn't working? The heating element is working and the flame is on but not sure if it is blowing while on. It seems to take a longer while to dry.

There is always a kill switch on the door, so you have to hold the switch closed and the dryer will start. You can also take off the exhaust tube and see if you have any air movement there.

But first, when was the last time you check your lint trap to make sure that is isn't obstructed? And I am not talking about just cleaning the lint off of it either. Take the lint trap out, clean the lint out and then take it to you sink. If you run it under water, the water should pass right through without pooling. If it pools, then just clean the screen with a soft brisstled brush and water, then test again.

It is the dryer sheets that close up the screen openings and if bad enough can even cause an overload/overheat situation.

Hi I have an Electrolux dryer which has started showing the error message e60, when i hold the start button and the one next to ity I get error e62 showing can you help?

the "E60" error code will appear when there is an error with the door switch and sensor, An unbalanced door will produce the E60 code. Try to close the door gently and listen for the click. If the error remains, the door switch may need to be replaced.

the "E62" error code will appear when the lint filter and tubing need to be cleaned or replaced. The dryer will start and run for 15 seconds before shutting off. It will restart when prompted and run for another 15-20 seconds before shutting off. These steps must be repeated until the dryer continues to run the full cycle. Tim

Clothes dryer working but not getting hot air

Make sure unit is getting 220 from home with a voltage meter. If that is correct, unplug dryer. If lint door is on top then the next few steps are quite easy. If you lint screen is in dryer door then you will need to find a diagram of you dryer. You can do this online at Ny of the appliance repair parts websites. If your lint screen is on top, unplug the dryer and take the back panel off. There is a "one time--non-resettable" thermal fuse near the blower (usually bottom left side). Your volt meter should show this as closed by checking continuity. If not, this may be 1 of your problems. Change it out--always clean all lint out of the unit anytime you have it open. On the right is a long metal tube/shaft area. At the top is another thermal limit fuse(non-resettable) which nerds to be tested for continuity. It should also be closed. Next check the hi-limit thermostat near the bottom of this cylinder. I take them off, hold the metal flange with needle nose pliers and hold lighter under it--be careful not to touch it with flame. Initally, you should be able to test this item as closed on your meter. Using the light will confirm that it will open correctly upon it's heat limit. You should always chevy ALL of these things ANY time you open the dryer. It is a good idea to also check the heater coil. This is usually in the bottomof that metal tube and has 2 screws holding it. Be very careful with this when removing and replacing. The oils from your hands can crate a potential weak spot which will fail sooner than it should. Check this for continuity as well. Replace what you found bad and close it back up. Turn the breaker off to the unit before pluging back in. If you wired something back incorrectly, this will save you a possible electrical burn. Plug the unit in and flip the breaker. Turn it on and you should have heat.

Runs for a while than shuts off if i take the back off it doesn't shut off.

Usualy this is caused by poor airflow through your dryer. Remove the lint filter and check for a lint build-up near the bottom of your lint filter. If you see a lint build up use a vacuum crevice tool and something long like a fly swatter to loosen the lint as you vacuum. Also check the dryer vent tubing and the outside vent flapper for obstructions. What is happening is your dryer is heating up until the high temp limit protection rhermostat shuts off the heating element.

What I just mentioned is apparently not your problem. You said that your dryer runs then shuts off completely. Check to see if the motor is easily roated by hand with the belt installed. If it is difficult to rotate there is a bearing problem somewhere causing heat to build up in your motor until the thermal overload shuts off the motor. There is a drive belt idler near the motor that can also cause excessive drag on the belt if the bearing has failed. The last thing to check would be the drum rollers located in the groved area on the outside of the rear of your dryer drum. If these have stopped turning they act like a drum brake and can also cause the same symptoms. Removing the back panel allows the chassis to shift enough for the drum to ride lighter on the drum roller even though it may not be turing it is enough for the dryer drum to skid / slide on top of the stuck drum roller yet not shut off.. Hope this helps and good luck. I can help with access issues need be here.

One question I have is does your dryer door open and close properly? Some times a bad door seal or door catch can cause the same symptoms. Open and close the door and losten for a switch click as the door opens or closes not far from the closed position.

It got too much lint in it and the heat shut off. I cleaned out the lint but don't know how to get the heat back on.

Thermostat controls heat. There is also a

motor centrifulgal switch, in the element

circuit, that the motor closes to insure

the motor is turning. Try another heat

setting. There is more than one

thermostat. You may have blown the

'thermal fuse' too, which requires

replacement.
It is possible that your element has

failed also.

Tripped high limit. Must clean the lint

filter and the exhaust vent tube and all

the way in to the dryer. Hot air exit is

restricted.

Must hold start button to run. no heat

disconnect power and remove lid. Test the door switch w a volt meter do so opening and closing the door not pushing switch if circuit stays open try pushing switch with finger. If pushing closes circuit then adjust switch. If circuit stays open replace switch. If switch operates with no problems then it is the motor. Check all connections and vacuum lint from motor
