You need to use a separate program to burn an iso to to a disk.
Dell normally ship Roxio with their machines at least here in Australia.

It would have came preinstalled with something like that.
If you have rebuilt the machine since it was new then you should still have it on the disks that came with the machine. Just reinstall it.

It's not just like burning a file to the disk. You will need to find the option to create a DVD from an image.

Also make sure that the image you have is for a DVD and not a CD.

Hope this helps.

How can i reformat my asus eee pc1000h if it doesnt have a cd drive?

You can reformat your Asus eePC 100h notebook using an Ubuntu Live USB.Here is how to make one: 1. Download an Ubuntu ISO Disk image from www.ubuntu.com or a debian ISO image file from www.debian.com. 2. You can also use an existing Live CD to create an ISO Disk image with if you have a working PC around. Many free tools exist for creating disk images.I suggest Ashampoo Burning studio or CDBurnerXP.Search for them on google. 3.Get your hands on a working PC that has Windows XP/Vista/7 installed on it. 4. Download the UnetBootIn utility from http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/unetbootin-windows-latest.exe. 5.The procedure for creating the Disk Image is as follows: (a)Requirements: 1 GB or larger USB drive, formatted as FAT32(most USB drives come formatted as FAT32 by default, but if you need to format it, on Windows, go to My Computer->right click your USB drive->format.
On Windows XP, you must be logged on as an administrator; on Windows Vista and above, you will be prompted for permissions via UAC.
On Windows, the UnetBootIN software looks like this:
brainiarc7.png
Follow the guided prompts on the software to make your Live USB drive, and be careful to select the corrrect linux distribution on the window.
When done, safely remove the flashdrive from the PC and plug it in your Asus eeePC 100h notebook.
Boot up your notebook and press the F2 Key as the system starts up and select the USB flash drive as the first boot device(You can also do the same from the BIOS setup).
When you boot up with the Ubuntu Live USB, select "Try Ubuntu without installing" option to run the Live OS on RAM.
When the system boots up completely, go to System>Administration>Gparted and the Gparted Disk utilitty will run.
From the Gparted menu, select the appropriate partition you want to format or modify.
You can read more on Gparted here.
When you are done partitioning and formating your HDD as you desire, you can also install Windows XP/Vista/7 from a FlashDrive by following the instructions below:

1.Get your hands on a working PC with Windows XP/Vista/7 installed.
2.Download the WinToFlash utility from http://wintoflash.com/download/en/
3.Install the application on the PC.
4.Once you are done, insert a Windows XP CD in the PC's optical disk drive and follow the installation instructions from WinToFlash.
By default, the installation path for Windows XP files on the drive is DRIVE LETTER:/Windows/system32.
See the screenshot below for more details:

brainiarc7_0.png

You can use the created bootable USB to install Windows XP on your notebook.
For more on WinToFlash, see this link:http://komku.blogspot.com/2009/09/wintoflash-guide-install-windows-xp.html

Have a great time ahead.

Trying to upgrade from windows XP pro to windows 7 pro error missing or corupt file ox80070241

The source you are installing from, either DVD or ISO file, is corrupt. Download a fresh copy of ISO file or burn a new DVD.

It is always better to install from ISO file directly using MagicDisc
or any such software.
If it still does not work, then i suggest that you backup all data and install windows 7 formatting the hard drive.

Inactive logon initialization failure...how do I fix it? tried saf mode, booting fron backup eexternal hard drive. window : Logon Process Initialization failure

I am not so sure which Version of Microsoft windows operating system is installed on your computer, but I would assume myself as Windows Vista, since this is a known issue with Windows Vista, (if my assumption is wrong, let me know so that I can help you better).

This happens when .man (.manifest) file in the windows is corrupted or infected by virus. In most cases, after installing multiple antiviruses on a system or after a virus scan.

First of, you need to try with the windows vista recovery disk. I hope you still have one or if you don't have one, download the Windows Vista Recovery ISO from here (click here) [let me know if you have problem]. After the download is completed, burn it on a dvd. If you would burn the DVD or the CD on a Windows Vista or win 7 system, simply right click the ISO file and select "Burn Disc Image" or etc... That'll create the bootable disk automatically, or if you are burning the Disk on Windows XP, you'll can do it with Nero or Roxio or ISO burner, etc.. Once everything is ready, pop in the Disk in the CD/DVD drive and select the First options from CD-Rom in the Bios Settings or simply boot up and keep tapping the F8 and select "Restore...." or "Repair...." etc.. If restore doesn't fix or is not accessible, you can try the "Repair.. and so on. I hope you know how to do all these, if you have problem, please don't forget to let me know with all your system's details, otherwise it's not possible to give you specific detailed instructions.

There's another options, this is only to recover your files and you'll need to reinstall the windows (I don't recommend installing over the current installed o.s. but a new install after the partition is formated). You can use Windows Live Cd (Xp or Vista or 7, if the current install o.s. is xp, then use XP Live Cd and so on..), there are numbers of torrents seeding on the net, if you need one, i'll help you download after I am confirmed. You have to use the Live Cd to boot your system as you boot up the windows normally, but in reality it, the o.s. is installed on the Cd and at least you'll be able to access the files on your computer so that you can transfer them to other computer. The features and functionality of the Live Cd may have few restrictions, but definitely, to restore or to save your files, this is the best option.

Another Live Cd, not exactly windows, but Ubuntu Live Cd, I hope you heard about Linux, there are many download iso files available online, I'll help you get them (Linux/Ubuntu is a freeware) if you need.

All these are the options you can do for now. Please note that if you have critical and important data on your computer, you must restore no matter what, else you may loose, Recovery softwares are not 100%, so please be careful. This is not a simple task, but now it's a must to do to get your system worked....:-)
Let me know when you are done or if you have problem doing all these, but please with more details.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

How to make bootable disk with win xp.iso format?

to answer the first question an Iso file can be burned to disk using the iso
burning function that comes with most burning software. if this file is an operating system then it would automatically be burned as a boot disk and nothing else would be needed. However if this is say service pack 3 and its an iso format then even though your burning it using an iso function it would just be service pack 3 and nothing else a none boo table disk.
