Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I had the same problem with my DSC-W55. I actually just called the customer service number on the sony website and they told me how to solve the problem.

- Take your battery out
- Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds
- Re enter your battery
- Voila.. it should work when you turn it on. Mine did.

There are 3 pins in the camera lens that slide in grooves allowing it to move you have knocked out 1 or more.
only an experienced tech can attempt fix , camera must be totally disassembled.

Great explaination.

I tried this reset, but the error came back. Read in other posts that it is a "flash capacitor" problem.

This can be the result of a broken LCD.
This kind of problem can be an internal disconnection of some cable.
Does any of the lites come on on the camera?
can you make the lens work when it starts?
If the camera appears to start in any way, you may be able to connect the video cable to a monitor or TV, and see what it happening.
It could also be that the monitor button was accidentally hit, and thus you have no LCD readout. That button will make the screen black if it is in the wrong position.

Cannot Take Pictures Anymore...

Green, I spent some time today with a sony tech rep on line. We went thru the motions of battery, memory card and still no help. So I'm sending my camera back to sony for repair. Mine is still under warranty. Hopefully yours is too. Good Luck. Mike aka m1stones1
