Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies

Canon mf 4010 will only print first page.

I tried it both with my Snow Leopard mac laptop, and my OS 10.5.8 laptop and I experienced the same problem: It will only print out the first page, then stalls and the red light blinks. The LCD monitor says: LOAD CORRECT PAPER, CASSETTE: LTR - but the only paper in the cassette is A4, which is the type of paper I chose in the settings of the printer before printing anything.

    Is it the same sensor that is used for the 'Copy' feature? When I lay a paper or book on the scanning bed and request several photocopies, it doesn't have a problem in spitting out several copies one after the other - without the sensor error I get from the 'Print' feature that I described in my original problem. I was hoping for a solution that doesn't require me to lug it back to office depot to be checked or replaced.

    Hi - decided to try one more thing before I take the printer to be serviced: I installed the drivers on my sister's Windows Vista laptop and ran a couple of test prints; everything worked beautifully. I'm guessing it's not the sensor, but the mac drivers. I either hooked up the USB before installing the mac drivers properly, or the mac drivers are out of date or faulty to begin with.

This problem usually comes from your printing program (Word or Adobe or something else).

Change the settings: File-Page Setup-A4 (not letter).

It should work then.

Its the problem of the faulty paper sensor .once you power the printer the sensor unit resets so it prints one page but for second page to print it should auto reset and detect paper but thats not happening.so again after turning the printer ON and OFF it will reset and again print only one page.because the sensor does not reset automatically.it does not detect the paper for second print and starts blinking red light and you get the load correct paper message.
To fix this you will have to open the printer and get it serviced and check the sensor and if necessary re-solder the sensor junction on the board or replace the sensor assembly.
thanks,keep updated and please rate the solution positively.

    the look of the sensor is same as you described.but the sensor which you are talking is for the copy/scan feature but the problem is with print sensor.and it cannot be seen without disassembling the unit as its located at where the paper passes from while printing .at service center they will disassemble the unit and check the sensor and replace if necessary.many times if the printer is new the sensor does not get faulty but actually gets moved from its original position which needs to be removed and reseated properly.

    thanks.this will help.keep updated.

Canon mf 4018

Hello - Canon does not provide a Mac driver that supports scanning, BUT if you have:

An Intel Mac

and
OS 10.5 (Leopard) or later (including snow leopard, lion, mountain lion and even mavericks)
there IS a fix: Just download the free Vuescan software for Mac, then use it to scan with the MF4018.

Go to: http://www.hamrick.com
Download Vuescan for Mac OS X

Install it, and start the application. It will recognize any scanners attached.
NOTE: If Vuescan asks you to identify your printer, you will not see the MF4018 listed. Choose the MF4010 instead - the 4010 and the 4018 use the same drivers.

I HAVE AN APPLE POWERBOOK G4 I PURCHASE FROM EBAY IT IS CURRENTLY RUNNING MAC OS 9 ,HOW CAN I UPGRADE TO OSX 10 ?

Hi Bobby
You will need to get an OS X installation DVD. Try eBay.Don't go for anything lower than 10.4 (Tiger)10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) should run fine on this machine.Don't bother with 10.7 or 10.8

Canon PIXMA MX870 Wireless Printer works with Snow Leopard OS?

The MX870 is compatible with Mac OS X, all versions. I think the CD that comes with the unit will have the Mac Snow Leopard drivers on it, but if not you will be able to download them here.

I have a cannon MP 160 printer/scanner. It does not work on a Mac

Uninstall all your drivers (and delete the preferences) and download the Mac drivers from this link. The drivers that came with your printer were developed before Snow Leopard came out.

My mac 10.6 OS does not have any drivers but generic. I can't use the full benefit of the copier

You will not be able to, because the primary drivers for the Toshiba E-Studio 3511 Color Copier, are too old for the Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard printer.

As you already may be experiencing, the range of use for your Toshiba E-Studio 3511 may work with various generic drivers and will not improve due to the Toshiba printer's incompatibility with Mac OS X 10.4 - 10.6.

You will in fact, always have a very limited to basic use of this Toshiba Color copier in Snow Leopard, because the driver support stopped at Mac OS X 10.3 Panther and there are not even any drivers for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger for this Toshiba printer.

Printer drivers for
Toshiba E-Studio Color Copier:

* Windows98/Me/2000/XP/2003 Server (only 32Bit), * * Windows NT4.0,
* Macintosh 9.X, X ver10.1/10.2/10.3
* Unix (HP-UX 10.20/11.X, Sun Solaris 2.6,2.7,7.8,8,IBM AIX, Linux)

Link to Technical Specs page:
Toshiba E-Studio 3511 Color Copier Technical Specifications

If you want review compatible printers for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, here is the Apple link for this list:
Mac OS X v10.6: Printer and scanner software

Hope this helps!

I cannot find a Canoscan N1220Udriver for Mac OS

Canon has indicated that N1220U will not be supported under Mac OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard). The only practical way to continue using the scanner under Snow Leopard is to buy the third party scanner software, VueScan (US$39.99).
