Scanner wont scan

When I try to open the scanner to scan a picture it is delayed and then a message pops up that says the instruction at "0x10070e51" referenced memory at "0x001f80000". The memory could not be written. Then says ok to terminate or cancel to debug

I have an Epson Perfection scanner and it has always worked perfectly. Then, out of the blue, it completely stopped working. I cannot recall the error codes, but the solution I found was to uninstall/reinstall. I still don't know what occurred to create the problem, but it has worked flawlessly since the reinstallation.

Good luck.

Did you uninstall/reinstall the driver? If you did and it did not work it would be great if you would share that information so the next person with this problem does not waste their time trying this.

I see now that you started a new thread. It's better if you keep everything related to this problem in one thread so others can learn from you've tried.

When you say "open the scanner" I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Are you using the Epson Scanning software directly or do you use it from another program? For instance, when I use Photoshop to scan something it opens the Epson scanning software for me and then scans the document into Photoshop for me.

I just spent a little time on the Epson website and nothing really earth shattering popped up. They suggested uninstalling/reinstalling as you have done. The only other thing they suggested was to check Device Manager to see if any problems were indicated for the device.

    To check Device Manger:

Start->Control Panel->System->Hardware Tab Click on Device Manager.

Your scanner should show up under "Imaging Devices". Do you see it? Are there any indications of a problem like a question mark or exclamation point?

I have a canon MG5220 printer and unable to scan properly the messages I receive are saying Scanner turned off, disconnected from LAN, code 2,145,50. Printing pictures and all other printing jobs work...

Regarding the Cannon scanner error 2145,50. I note you have tried to fix this, but failed. The actual problem is that the scanner will not communicate with the computer correctly if it is connected through a USB hub. A direct connection to the computer cures it.
I know, I had that problem. I am a retired elctronics design engineer.

How do you scan pictures?

Depends on scanner. You place picture on scanner or put it threw scanner and push scan. It will pop up on the computer screen with instructions on what to do.

When I tell it to Scan, a window pops up and says, "Can't find the Scanner plug-in." I am sure I have it, but I just can't make it work. Any suggestions.

I suggest you first download the correct drivers and software or verify from the installation you have on your Mac that the software installed is the same version listed on the website. Having done this verification, kindly start the scanning software provided, turn on the scanner and then press scan. Sometimes, if there is a delay in the software response to a scanner's command or a delay from the scanner to a software's command then such messages show up.

Lexmarkx125 will scan larger pictures but smaller ones.

Here are some instructions from the Lexmark X63 which was similar to the X125.

The Lexmark X63 uses a sheet fed scanner, intended to scan 8 1/2 x11 inch paper.
  • To scan a document between 5 1/2 inches and 8 3/4 inches wide, center the document between the paper feed guides leading into the scanner and make sure the document is held straight,. Do not bend the document as it is fed into the scanner.
  • To scan photos or pictures that are 5 1/2 inches wide or smaller, you will need to use a flatbed scanner, or "mat" the image into a regular letter-size paper and scan the entire page. When the scan process is complete, crop out the picture using the AUTO CROP option in the Scan and Copy Control program or the photo-editing software.

Sleepy Scanner?

try using windows driver first, so that we will knowif there is a problem with your scanners driver.

Open paint and click on file and click on from scanners and camera and let me know if it will give you an option to scan from that app or if you will get an error message.

I have a problem with my Epson Perfection 3590 PHOTO scanner. I have used it successfully for scanning photos and documents, but finally found some negatives to try scanning, but it didn't wo I followed the step-by-step Scanning 35 mm Negatives instructions under Scanning Film and Slides on page 4 of your .PDF manual found at until step 5. Step 5 states, ""Slowly slide the film into the loader. Let go of the film when the scanner begins to automatically feed it into position," but the scanner did not begin to automatically feed the negatives. Instead, I used the grey manual knob located on the underside of the lid to feed the strip of negatives into position. I launched the Epson Scan software and ran a scan in Full Auto Mode, but it only scanned the underside of the scanner lid like a photograph or document. I next tried Home Mode. Under Document Type, the only options are: Photograph, Illustration, Magazine, Newspaper, and Text/Line Art. There are no Film, Negatives, or Slides options. So I finally tried Professional Mode. Under the Original settings section, Document Type is defaulted to Reflective, so I clicked the drop-down arrow to change it to Film, which is shown, but the Film option is greyed out and cannot be selected. Several times I tried unplugging and reconnecting the cover cable to make sure its connected tightly and examined the plug and port with a magnifying glass to see there are no bent or missing pins. The connection is secure, but the scanner lid is still unresponsive (for example, the Eject button has no effect) and the software still doesn't allow me to set the operation to Film. I then tried the following steps, but still no change: 1. Launched Epson Scan software 2. Under Professional mode, clicked on Configuration at the bottom of the Epson Scan window 3. On the Configuration window, clicked on the Other tab, and clicked on Reset All 4. Confirmed restoring of Epson Scan 5. Launched the Epson Scan program again to try scanning negatives, but the problem remained. I downloaded and installed the latest recommended driver from, but that didn't help either. An Epson tech support agent I spoke with over the phone told me it must be a hardware problem, but the unit is out of warranty, so I'd have to take it to the nearest service center, which is 20 miles away, and pay to get it repaired or buy a new one. I took apart the lid to look for any obvious issues like bad connections or blown circuit components, but found nothing unusual or out of place. What can I try next to fix this thing myself? Thanks!
