    This sounds much like you don't have enough memory. When you out your system to hibernate close all program this would free up a lot of the memory, but defeats the purpose for hibernating huh? You may also install more memory. reply to this post with your computer specs, and i will comment further.

This is a common hibernation issue ... here is the fix:
Once you are able to get it to start up again (there is no sure fire way to do this, it just happens!).
The virtual memory size is set too low! It must be set to an amount larger than your amount of physical memory. (If you have 2GB or memory, then Virtual memory must be more than 2048MB.
Right-click [My computer]
In the [General] tab, note the amount of RAM
Select the [Advanced] tab
Select the [Settings] button in the "Performance" section.
Click on the [Advanced] tab
Click on the [change] button in the "Virtual Memory" section
almost there!
Highlight the boot drive (C:)
Don't change the locartion of the VM file.
Select "Custom size" radial button.
Enter a number that ois larger than your physical memory from the General tab
1GB = 1024MB (plus 512MM or so) = 1536MB
2GB=2048MB (plus 512MB or so) = 2560MB
3GB=3072MB (plus 512MB or so) = 3584MB
[SET]
[OK]
[OK]
etc.....

Greetings,

The first thing to try is disconnecting any external peripherals such as external hard drives, or USB devices. If your computer still will not come out of hibernation, then step 2 is to disable unneeded start-up items or services in the operating system.

You might also try updating your hardware drivers and see if that helps.

To assist you further, I need to know what operating system and service packs you have installed on your notebook.

Let me know how it goes. I am always happy to help.

Sincerely,
James O'Brien

Your laptop went into sleep mode/hibernate. In many cases windows could not recover from these situations. One solution is to update the BIOS of your laptop on the acer website. Easy way to fix it is setting your power options under control panel. You can configure the settings here if your pc is idle to prevent sleep mode or hibernate.

Hibernation is a power management feature. When you hibernate a laptop, you're essentially turning it off. So, unlike Stand By (Sleep) mode, a hibernated laptop isn't using any battery power at all - that laptop is off!

The secret behind hibernation is that before you turn off the laptop, everything you're doing with the computer is saved. (The contents of memory are saved to the hard disk.) When the computer is turned on again, it recovers from hibernating by reloading all the saved information and restoring your laptop to exactly the same condition it was in before it was hibernated.

Briefly, hibernation works like this:

1. You activate the hibernation feature.

Hibernation is activated differently depending on how it's set up.

2. The laptop hums as everything in memory is saved to disk.

3. The laptop turns itself off.

It's really and truly off: The battery isn't being used, and it's safe to store the laptop or put it away until you need to use it again.

To recover from Hibernation mode, just turn the laptop on. In some cases, the laptop may recover from hibernation when you press a key or touch the mouse pad. hibernated state for as long as you want.

Hibernation mode requires hard drive space. So you should be aware that when hard drive space runs low, it's possible that Hibernation mode won't work.

In Windows XP, you have to activate Hibernation mode before you can use it. Follow these steps to activate Hibernation:

1. Click the Start button.

2. From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.

3. Open the Power Options icon in the Control Panel.

4. In the Power Options Properties dialog box, look for and click on the Hibernation tab.

If you don't see a Hibernation tab, there's your answer: The laptop isn't capable of hibernating. Oh, well.

You might want to check the laptop's Setup program to see whether you can activate Hibernation there.

5. Select the Enable Hibernation option by clicking the check box to place a check mark in the box.

6. Review other options, if they're available.

7. Click OK to confirm the changes and close the Power Options Properties dialog box.

Optionally, close the Control Panel window, as well.

Some laptops may require you to restart Windows for this change to take effect.

Acer LCD Monitor

It is with your system. You might have hibernation enabled and many advanced video cards cannot recover from a bios or control panel timed hibernate. Start by using the Power Options from the control panel. Select "Always On" for everything and select the Hibernate tab to be sure that the Hibernate check box is not selected. Make sure you APPLY the settings. If the problem goes away, you can tweak the settings to get the power savings features you want without losing your system..
