se20417, First make sure that all cable and power connections are good. Do you think that the "ON/OFF" button has really failed due to over use or some form of ABUSE? The typical lifespan of a switch of this type should be > 20,000 actuations!!! 2 pushes a day= 10,000 days= about 27 years! I suspect that your LCD power supply (SMPS) is not starting up or at best is going into what is known as SHUTDOWN MODE to try and save itself from a catastrophic nonrecoverable failure. Sure you can open up the monitor, but do you own a DMM that you know how to use? You can go to YOUTUBE and view some video clips of LCD monitor disassembly to get an idea of what you are getting yourself into and then let me know what plan of action you will be taking. You may also want to search web for the reasons that "switch-mode-power-supplies" fail, and "swollen capacitors", and visit www. and or www. for more info. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ Bye for now.

That is exactly what was wrong with mine and quite likely a host of others. Very poorly designed! I drilled a small hole in the monitor bezel directly opposite the actual switch and now that it is back together and working well I use a paper clip to turn it on and off :)

I have a similar problem on my E228. I opened it to discover the power button was broken. Specifically the switch itself was fine and if you pressed it, the monitor worked but the plastic button that presses on the switch was bad. The part that lights up has a little plastic "ear" which presses on the switch. The ear is not well supported and broke off. Hopefully there is a similar part on one of my other Dell monitors.

I had to cut a groove in the power switch and glue in a sturdy piece of L shaped plastic cut from a pill bottle to strike the button. It has worked for over two years.

My tv power button is just flashing not switching on

Try resetting it by unplugging and waiting 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
If that doesn't work, most likely the power supply board needs to be replaced.

If you don't know how to do it yourself, find some local Electronic repair shops, get quotes, try to find reviews on the shops.

Oregon scientific meep power button

OSI does not repair power buttons and opening your Meep tablet will void any remaining warranty. Having said that, some people have reported that they've opened their Meep and fixed the switch themselves. You might try a Google or YouTube search for their advice.

My laptop fan was not working

You did not say whether the laptop boots up or is dead.

Check the following:

1. Defective Battery will cause laptops to not power up

2. Defective AC power adapter

3. Try vacuuming the open grills on the laptop to suck out any debris clogging the fan

These are about the only things you can check as a consumer without opening the device and troubleshooting at the board level.

If none of these work then the laptop needs to see a MBD (mainboard doctor)

2005 Chrysler Town & Country. Passenger side window problem.

HAVEK 1005 sounds right on track.... but also try this, usually works well for non functional power windows, specially Caravans.

1. Sit in vehicle, on seat next to problematic window
2. Ignition key is on
3. Door in question is opened (in case you closed it)
4. While door is open, press and hold power window button in desired window travel, keep button pressed !!
5. SLAM hard the door closed with one hand while other hand holds button as per #4.
6. Watch window operate as it should.
7. Repeat 3-6 if necessary, but usually the first try works!

NOW, for the naysayers that says you must replace power window motors etc, at $$$ cost because the above fix does not work, or is not long lasting fix, or less than a "professional fix".... Well then, when the window fails to operate again, apply same fix again at that time.

I have fixed my van this way numerous times (usually once a year), and to all local friends I recommend this fix too, likewise do the same and are happy with the solution.

Hi, click on the "Start Button" in the (right, pane) select to open the Control Panel, next open the [Hardware and Sound] applet. Next in the "Mouse Properties" (window) click on the "Device Setting" button, once the window open, click on the "Setting" button just below the "highlighted" (Name of the device TouchPad. Try out some of the "items listed" Tapping, Virtual Scrolling... "You must click on the "Apply, OK buttons when finished." Note: Restart the computer; this will make sure the changes are correctly applied, and working properly.
