Crossover schematic I am looking for the schematic for the crossover network for the Peave TLS-2 PA speaker. I cannot read the value of one of the components. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

Need Schematics for Mackie C300 Speaker


Do you have the existing resistor, Larry? Is it crisped up, or can you still read the colored bands? Those colored bands are a color code indicating its resistance - if you can read them off here, we can tell you what its resistance is.

As to wattage... that's something we could at least estimate from size & shape, weighted a little by speaker wattage rating (that resistor should never see as much wattage as the rating).

Last... if we knew for sure what every other component is (from its printed labeling), we could reconstruct the schematic and calculate that resistor's value. Reverse-engineering a crossover designs is far from being rocket surgery. 8)

I offer these as alternative approaches; it may be near-impossible or impossible to get that schematic.

Instructions
    • 1 Determine the distance between the system amplifier and the 2-way crossover. Cut this with the wire cutters. Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from the amplifier end of both speaker wires. Loosen the amplifier speaker screws with the appropriate screwdriver. Insert the bare wires under the terminals strips. The speaker wire with the writing or molded ridge is usually used as the positive wire. Tighten the wires down with the screwdriver.
    • 2 Route the wires within the vehicle, avoiding potential hazards such as floors, seatbelt areas, and anywhere where small stressing or abrasion may occur. This usually means under side trim or tucked within the dash. Secure any loose speaker wire with zip ties every 4 inches.
    • 3 Remove 1/2 inch of insulation from the crossover end of the wires. Locate the section of the speaker terminals labeled "INPUT" or "AMP." Insert the wires leading from the amplifier under this strip, following the same polarity used at the amplifier. Screw these down with the appropriate screwdriver.
    • 4 Cut lengths of wire to connect from the crossover to the woofer and tweeters. Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from both ends of the wires. Crimp a 16 gauge insulated connector onto the tweeter end of the speaker wire leading from the crossover. Insert the wires under the loosened screws labeled "TW" or "TWEETER." Tighten these back down to secure.
    • 5 Strip 1/4 inch of insulation from the wire pigtail leading to the tweeter. Insert this into the other end of the insulated connector, and crimp it securely. Repeat for both tweeters.
    • 6 Crimp a 16 gauge female spade terminal on the ends of the wires leading to the individual woofers. Slide these over the appropriate terminals on the woofer, again following the same polarity observed at the amplifier. Insert the crossover end of the wires into the "WF" or "WOOFER" terminal on the 2-way crossover. Tighten them back down to secure.

My crossover on Behringer speaker cab ba-115 (15" bass driver plus tweeter) is bad. Does anyone have the schematic before I tear it apart?


There is very little to an inspeaker crossover that could go bad unless it was SEVERELY overdriven. I recommend checking the speaker individually on a wire from a stereo or something powered to verify this. A crossover is nothing more than a capacitor (high cutoff) and an inductor.(low cutoff). The 600 watts rating of the cabinet is an RMS rating, meaning, .707 actual peak value free of distortion. This means that you can only drive it about 71% of that without distorting or damaging it. You said, "very little signal gets to the speaker", which sounds like "very low volume" meaning, magnet stuck, speaker not moving much, meaning warped voice coil. Check that the speaker will move back and forth with your hand freely without interference or scratchy noise. If it doesn't, the voice coil is warped and the speaker needs to be reconed or replaced.

Did you find a solution? Dunno if it's much help, but I just today picked up some 501s - Series I I think - ugly heavy brown material grilles - but with a manual! No fuses in these, but booklet recommends installing your own in-line fuse holders (!?). Specifies a BUSS AGC-3 fuse for amps under 50wpc; or a MDL-2 fuse for amps over 50 wpc. Can be placed is series with either or the two signal wires. Very strange.... Robin

line out from mixer------to crossover in---------crossover out-------to amplifier line in-----------from amplifier out--------to loud speaker.
---from low output(low frequency)of crossover-----to line in in subwoofer.(mixer is ordinary mixer not powered mixer- and in case of powered mixer take care it is line out(0db---to4db)not amplifier out which you connect it to loudspeakers.

Peavey Compressor/Limiter and Peavey 3/4/5w Crossover
