Hello. If someone gave me GPS coordinates on a data sheet and now I need to relocate these coordinates, how do I use the GPS to get to this exact location? The waypoints were not saved in the unit otherwise I could just click on the waypoint and actively track my course towards it.

The Garmin nuvi's were designed as automotive navigators and not really designed to be used as marine or outdoor GPS units with the exception of the nuvi 550 which is an all around GPS. The Garmin handhelds are recommended for marine and off road recreational use but it is possible to navigate if you know the coordinates of your fishing spot. To enter coordinates: Touch Where to? > Coordinates and touch a box to enter a coordinate. You can also refer to the manual for more information. nüvi® 215
In GoogleEarth, change your coordinates to decimal format. In your Lowrance GPS, change that format to decimal. You don't mention which Lowrance model so I can't find the online manual to tell you exactly how to do it.
The solution is in the manual but however it is not given the prominence it deserves. It is talked about in passing and yet it is the most important thing GPS users need. One goes to the Pointer and uses the scroll up and down keys to get the coordinates aprt from other things like bearing, elevation, sunrise or sunset time, trip odmeter etc .
The manual should clearly show this prominently. I gave this GPS to 4 people and the manual and all failed to figure this out. This shows the instruction is not user friendly. The Old Garmin GPS would lead you straight into coordinates and the accuracy reading on the same screen display and this was simple.
Are you sure you're using the exact same format on GoogleEarth and your GPS?
GoogleEarth: save the waypoints in a KML file (NOT KMZ) to your computer, naming it appropriately. Go to http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/gpsbabel/ and convert the KML file to a GPX file, using their converter. They will present you with a file to download. Download it and send those waypoints to your unit and you'll be set to go.
