Re: Download difficulties

Sometimes the pins in the camera output get bent from jamming the cable in (usually backwards). You can bend them back (GENTLY) and sometimes the output is just fried. I have had this happen and closed out of the program and reopened and the problem is solved. Make sure the camera is on when you reopen so it can recognize it in the process.

Imac 9pin firewire port does not recognize my Sony DCR-HC52

Perhaps a USB to Firewire dongle will help sort you out. As you have discovered those two are not compatible. To make it work, you MUST get a 4 pin card and install it, or the USB solution.

I have a Canon FS100 Digital Video Camcorder. I am attempting to download some video on to my iMac, but then I select "Connect To Camera" I get the message "No Camera Was Found". I have the camera plugged...

The computer is no longer detecting the camcorder for several reasons. It could be the ports on the computer, it could be the cable that you're using to connect the camcorder to the iMac, or it could be the camcorder itself.

Try connecting the camcorder into different USB or FireWire port of the iMac.

Try using different cable.

Try connecting the camcorder into different computer to test the device.

If all else fails, power cycle the camcorder by turning it off and remove the battery for about 10 minutes. Then turn it back on. Otherwise, contact the manufacturer for second opinion.

Hope these helps and have a great day!

Can't download

USB bad. If the footage is on hard drive rather than tape just browse the camera or import rather than capture. If difficulties seeing the hd maybe use a card reader known to work with mac. If it is on DV tape you need to connect to a dv / hdv out to fire wire, if this camera doesn't have one you will need to borrow some one's who does.

Transfering video to Mac

I believe that camera only works with firewire. You might want to check with Canon to see if there is compatibility problems with Macs. I know it works on Windows computers.

Hooking up my camcorder to my imac G5

IIRC, I think it's referring to hooking it up when installing the driver software. Some tech have a certain order to connect things in order for Windows to see it.

For Mac, it's pretty much plug and play and if you have firewire, you should be able connect it and turn it on. You Mac should see it right away.
