Question about Linksys Wireless-G WUSB54G 802.11g/b

1 Answer

My internet has stopped working. I have the linksys wireless adapter WUSB54G version 4.2. It has worked fine for a very long time and has stopped. I have tried to reinstall the software disc and it seems to be stuck it won't complete the whole loading process to the computer. I have downloaded an update from the linksys website onto a disc and then tried to upload that to my computer, but that did not work. This all occurred after I uploaded an microsoft service pack for my Vista.

SOURCE: problem connecting linksys wusb54g wireless to internet.

Sounds like you need to reboot the router and probably the cable modem. Unplug both, wait 30 seconds, then plug them back in. It can't hurt anything and it solves this problem 90% of the time.

Hello
Win 7 Should supply the drivers or software automaticly.
Try this.
1 Shut down pc.Remove all cables from router including power cable.
2 There should be a reset button in the back of the router hold it in with a pen tip or paper clip for 1 min.
3 Plug power back into router and all cables.
4 Restart pc.
Once pc is started go to control panel/network and sharing center, and be sure your on home netwok.
If you are asked for a wep code from the router.
1 Open up your browser and type in 192.168.1.1 in address bar and hit enter.

username will be admin
password will be the word password

Once in look under security settings and you will find the wep code wich you may need to enter in your adapters setup program.

Im going to leave you a link to your routers manufacturer.

Need working Windows 7 driver for Linksys WUSB54G V.1.0 Adapter

This driver should work with Vista, and based on the FAQ it should work with 64-bit although it wasn't designed for the 64-bit OS.

If the link doesn't work, let me know. I'll direct you to the download page to retrieve the driver.

Cannot setup WPA2 on WUSB54G & WPC11 adaptors

This is because those wireless adapters that you mentioned do not support for WPA2. Linksys will not release drivers for those adapters that will make it work with WPA2 because they are already discontinued. So the only other option is to stick with WPA or WEP

Can not connect adapter to laptop no installation CD-Rom

you have to install the driver for it to work and i assume that is not the case as you have no cd. Go here to download the driver. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Download_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115417109934&packedargs=sku%3D1134691790190&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=0993490190B03 When installed go to the properties of your adapter in network connections, then click on tcp/ip line and then properties and ensure obtain ip address automatically is ticked and press ok. You may also have to use the home network connection wizard if you havent previously to share documents over your network.
