The rubber gasket came off of my front load washer. I don't know how to get is back on. I called a repair person and was told they don't do that repair because it is too much trouble. Is there a technique or a specialized tool I can rent to fix this or am I out of luck?

It is a pain, but can be done...go to Uncle Harry's appliance repair website and get the manual or dvd for step by step instructions....The front loaders open up from the front not the top, no screws, just pry open with snaps, be careful not to chip ceramic paint..good luck..

My grey rubber gasket around the tub has a 1" rip in it. This is located where you open the front load door and on the grey rubber gasket just inside. Is there a patch kit? Or do I have to replace...

I search on google and no such patch kit. I tried a bike inner tube repair kit and it seems to work, but my holes are less than 1". Check out my post. I have a gasket on the way just in case.

Torn front grey colored rubber seal, is this repairable? This rubber seal is covered with mold

These seals are not fun to replace for the average person. There will probably be a spring clamp around the front of the gasket which you can remove with a good pair of needle nose pliers. The back side will be held in with another spring or a screw clamp. If you install a new gasket just work from one side clockwise feeding it around the drum with your fingers. This can be a VERY frustrating process. If you have the extra money I would probably advise just calling a tech out. You will probably be looking at around 200 for the repair. Maybe more depending on the service call and labor.

To avoid the smell when you get a new gasket leave the door cracked between uses. You can also just run an empty load with bleach in it on the highest temp cycle with an extra rinse. (Basically highest heat longest cycle) Once a month.

Hope this helps _MJ_

Smelly washer

What finally worked for me was a cup of dishwasher powder, the kind that goes into an automatic dishwasher. Don't know why, but that was the only thing that ever worked!
