It seems inevitable that the copy machine will have a paper jam. You
need the copies immediately, so how do you fix the jam? Luckily,
ingenuity and a manual, can help you fix the problem yourself. Fixing a
paper jam, can elevate you to hero status amongst your co-workers.
Discover the location of the jam. Carefully
open the cover of the copy machine and the paper tray to see exactly
where the paper is jammed.
Turn off the copy machine before pulling out the paper.
the page out, the opposite way it is fed into the copier. Pull the
jammed sheet out gently. If you tug too hard, the paper may rip.
Check for any paper fragments and clean up any torn pieces.
the roller where the jam occurred to be sure none of the copier parts
are loose or broken. The roller should be smooth all the way across
with no possible snags.
Replace the cover and paper tray and turn the machine back on.
the button to cancel the paper jam message. This button will vary among
copy machines. The display will tell you which button to push.
You should get it checked by an Authorized Service Professional. If this doesn't do, check if your paper is of a compatible weight (GSM) Check your Machine for compatible paper specification and to know this you may read user manual or your machine. Then check your Paper Packet. If your paper is of a compatible weight, you should call authorized service engineer of your machine. If you find you were trying with a non-compatible type of paper, change to a compatible paper and if it still jams, something wrong with your machine is definite. Contact Authorized Service engineer in such a case.
Did you try unplugging the power cord and waiting a couple of minutes, then plug back in and see if the printer resets itself. Also try checking all the paths that the paper travels through the machine for any scraps of paper that may have torn off during the jam up. Sometimes a very small scrap will prevent printers from resetting themselves. Also disconnect the printer from the computer before unplugging so the printer doesn't receive any signal from the computer. It may not mean anything.
The error message that you are getting means there's a jammed paper inside the machine particularly in the feeder. This may also appear if the panel is not closed securely. Try to open the control panel and look for any pieces of jammed paper or debris. Closed the front cover or the control panel, it should display the regular screen date/time. Once you have the regular screen load the document on the feeder, the display should change and should ask you to enter the fax number.
Hope this helps!
