That means you have a restriction somewhere. Did you install a filter dryer?

The restriction could be at the metering device.

With those small refridgerant systems there is very little tolerance for any sort of restriction. I tiny bit of dirt that may have gotten on the tip of your hose when you charged it or a small peice of rubber from a deteriorating seal in the tip of the hose fitting, anything like that could have caused the restriction.

Recover the refridgerant, dissasemble/clean the metering device, install a filter dryer, flush it with nitrigen, then pull another vacuum and recharge it, you should be fine.

Oh DANG! I just reread all this and realized I misread your post. For some reason I read -20 low side and 200 high side.

I now see that you actually said only 100 high side.

Well that means you still have a leak somewhere.

I'd look first at the schreader valve/s for a leak. You may have to inject dye and search with a UV light to find it if it's not the S-valve.

Please accept my apologies for misreading your post.

What were your pressures right after you repaired the first leak and charged it up? R134A system?

What happens if you would add a charge to a running system that has a low charge on a 404a system and you charge thru the suction as a vapor. I had a memory lapse and have charged 410 systems as a liquid...

as long as you recovered the charge, pulled a vacuum, changed the filter/dryer, and added the correct amount of refrigerant as a liquid, you should be good to go.

Freezer does not freeze anymore

the freezer usually has the condensor coil sandwiched ilong the outer cabnet and in the back the lines come out in to the compressor compartment as a tech i have found the steel line rusts where the epoxy coating is no longer in tact so i would say you most likely have leaked out the refrigerant

Our chest freezer isn't keeping food on top frozen although the bottom is still frozen solid?

Hello,

Most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for.

Hope this help in solving the problem....

How do i add freon to system

Get a saddle valve like THIS ONE. Sand down the suction line or compressor ear and attach the valve. Connect hoses to the valve and add some freon. The low side pressure should be around
5 PSI.

Hope this helpout.....

I replaced compressor for a hussman refrig and its hums loud

God day,
Some thoughts.
1. Are the evap fan motors running, and at full speed. That would give you abnormally low suction pressure.
2. Cap tube sized too small. or partial restriction in the dryer cap tube/dryer when brazing in the lines.
3. Low ambient. What's the temp the machine is running in.
4. Over sized compressor.
5. Moisture. God, 134A is touchy on that one.
6. Was original cap tube soldered to the suction line to create a heat exchanger. Needed on many apps. Definately would cause flash back on start up.
7. Superheat a little low, should be 12 to 15 degrees.

These units are pretty much manufactured, then the insulation is inserted as a liquid that forms into a solid insulation. Consider the age of the unit for a replacement IMHO.

Maytag chest freezer mqc1557aew not freezing

idiot alert!

Seems I moved the plug to a switched outlet in a dark room. Every time I went in the unit was running and everything seems to be fine except the temp was rising....always worse after an overnight without a light on! I tested the power (can't do that in the dark) and checked the freezer over without finding issue.

My stupidity resulted in cookouts for all my friends three nights in a row and a bruised ego......at least my friends think I am a great guy and a good cook! I was rolling the unit to the curb when it dawned on me! Thanks
