. Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back onand listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries tostart.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overloadrelay.
Check to see if thecondenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If nocheck fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. shouldbe warm

The evaporator coil behind the cover on the backwall inside the freezer will ice up under normal conditions. Every 8 to 10hours for around 20 minutes the defrost timer (or in most newer models the electronicadaptive defrost control) will turn the defrost heater on tomelt the built up ice. There is a defrost thermostat which prevents the heater fromoverheating the freezer by breaking the heater circuit when the temp reachesclose to 32 degrees F. The entire cooling system shuts off during the defrostcycle and starts back when the timer advances through the cycle.

If this ice is not melted it will continue tobuild up until the air can’t flow over the coil to circulate the cold airthrough the freezer and into the fridge. The temperature change in the fridgeis usually noticed first followed by the freezer.

If the defrost thermostat is bad it can prevent the heater fromcoming on OR it won’t turn the heater off when it gets too warm. It is clampedto the evaporator coil at the top to sense the temp. If it appears to bemisshapen it is bad.
With an ohm meter it should show continuity whencold and none when warm.
You can also bypass the thermostat to see if theheater comes on then. If it does then you know the thermostat is bad and needsreplaced.

The defrost heater islocated on the evaporator. It is in a tube which is at the bottom and can alsogo up the sides of the evaporator. On some types you can see a burnt spot ifit’s bad. With an ohm meter it should show continuity from end to end whendisconnected from the wiring in the freezer. You can also test the wiring forvoltage when it’s in the defrost mode.

Ifyou have a defrosttimer youcan test it. It can be located under the fridge behind the kick panel on thefront. Some are in the fridge with the controls at the top. You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shutsdown. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer because thatmeans the timer is not running. If itdoesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again tilleverything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

If you have an adaptive defrost control instead of a timer, replace it if the heater and thermostat test good. It is located in the fridgewith the controls in some models and on the back in others.

My amana side by side fridge quits cooling for periods of up to 4hrs, at the same time the water dispenser doesnt work.. then after 4-5hrs the fridge starts back up.. runs for probably 16hrs and quits...

The water dispenser and the compressor are separate circuits, check if the fridge has power or has no power at all during the time it is idle, test on a different power outlet.

I have a Whirlpool GC5SHEXNS00 side-by-side refrigerator that has stopped cooling. For quite some time the center column was hot to the touch, but it maintained the ability to cool. Now it no longer cools...

If the center wall was hot then your defrost heater was stuck on, now with no cooling it could be you burnt out the compressor or the main board could be fried. Not good either way, it might be time for a new one. Sorry

We have a Hotpoint HSS25GFT side by side refrigerator. The freezer works great! The refrigerator side is not working so great. It sounds like the motor is running but the refrigerator part will not cool....

replace the ptc overload relay on the compressor body it unplugs and a new one plugs in,its because the ptc gets weak and the relay that supplies will drop out and quit supplying power, after it cools a while it will work again for a while, but replace it as it will get worse and finally quit all together

My GE Profile is not cooling/freezing. Just started happening. what do I do?

replace the rtc overload contactor on the units compressor side body as it has weakened and cant supply power to keep the compressor running,if it sounds like its running and is quite warm,it is running only on the start windings and eventually burn out the motors windings, when you have it removed, shake the rtc and if it rattles its a good sign its bad

Where in the heck is the radiator fuses on a 2003 chevy monte carlo SS. The passenger side fan motor has quit but is showing it has power when tested with a testing light?

if you have power there then the fuses are good or relays but if you have power then you ethier have a bad fan or ground wire also that fan should only come on when the ac is on

Power outage caused by fridge to quit

OUCH! , the partial digit display is an error code that has a meaning and they are never good , these units I have seen/repaired many times but I do not have the code book to determine it.
Try holding down the power freeze and power cool at the same time until you get something. If the unit is ok it will reset and hopefully be fine , if you still get a code these units have longer warranty's and could be repaired with no charge.
