Memory subsystem error. Take out all RAM, try reinstalling modules one at a time. If system posts with one but not the other, that RAM module is likely bad. If no go, the motherboard is likely bad

I have a Mitsubishi model WD-60737 and to make a long story short 1st time problem lamp replaced fine for a month til my uncle hooked a DVD player to my TV next day turned on with solid green light then TV kept turning off after 2 to 3 minutes of beingetting turned on and a solid red light to show after. What does that mean? It's a brand new lamp and worked for a month so why shut down now? Could my uncle have did something to where it shook up the circuits or something?

The last led light blinks green and sometimes it turns solid red

red light is stands for hardware boot and the green one is stands for system boot and disc boot. when red light remains solid it means your system is in 0% cpu usage and nothing doing, stop working

My Dell 8200 Desktop just stopped working. It turns on but doesn't boot; nothing appears on the screen. I was told this is the motherboard. Does that sound right?

two things
  1. What does the power LED on the tower indicate? Solid Amber? Flashing Amber? Solid Green?
  2. On the back of the Tower are 4 diagnostic LEDs, what do they indicate? Normally they flash thru several sequences and stop ABCD all Green. If the stop in another pattern, post the pattern.

1 Answer

Screen will not come on hard drive light no light checked power supply is ok

Things to check:
  1. Power led on the front of the tower, it should be solid green when on. Flashing Amber is generally an indication of a bad power supply inside the tower
  2. Power LED Solid AMBER indicates system is not finishing the power on self test (POST) and you remove all connections from the tower except power and try turning on again. If no change, remove all PCI and PCI-E cards from system, try again, no change replace motherboard.
  3. On the back of the tower are 4 diagnostic LEDs near the ps2 ports marked ABCD, after the POST, during a normal boot the will flash in several sequences and with boot is finished all 4 should be green. If they stop an a different pattern, then that indicates a failure Yellow Yellow Green Green indicate bad RAM for example
  4. If the LEDs on front and back are Green then the system appears to be booting but the monitor display is not functional

System cases vary when it comes to wire colors. The most common wire colors for positive are, solid blue, light blue, solid red, solid green, light green. Negative wire colors. Each led, IDE-LED, Reset, PWR-LED and PWRBTN should share a negative colored wire. Common is the solid color white but this can vary from case to case.

Good luck!

Diagnostic Indicator

Beep codes and power LED status are pre-post errors. Usually beep codes indicate a problem with a memory module. Power LED is solid green for normal operation. Solid or blinking Amber color power LED indicates a power distribution problem.
