Question about Xerox WorkCentre XD100 All-In-One Laser Printer

Paper jams My Xerox XD100 keeps jamming. It worked fine for years, but now I can make only two or three copies and it jams. As to use, although I've had it for 6 or 7 years, I run only about 10 - 20 copies (or less) per week. The jam is usually at the paper tray. The jammed page doesn't even make it to the paper path. It's jammed before it leaves the tray. Would you suspect paper quality (I've tried a couple of different papers and I don't recall what paper I have previously used successfully) or would could it be the mechanism that feeds the paper? Thank you. Dan

I solved the problem of paper not even leaving the tray by filing the 2 rubber feed tires tread surface with a metal file which removes the gloss from the rubber. When tires become glossy from use they slip over paper causing misfeed or no fed at all.

The feedrollers are most likely worn out. Maybe not smoothe but just tacky.
You can try removing the paper tray. Then take some cleaner, alcohol or some liquid soapy cleaner, fantstic, or soemting like that, and clean the rubber rollers. Clean them 2 or 3 times with a cloth dampned with the cleaner.
since the jams are in the tray, I am sure those rollers are either dirty or smoothe.
If you need more info let me know and I will send you my E-mail address so you can order and replace them on your own if you don't have a maintenance agreement with someone.

I do NOT suspect the paper. What you are describing is a classic example of worn or dirty feed rollers.

    99.9 percent rollers.

This is a clasic case of the rubber feed rollers simply being worn and dirty. You can check the clutch to make sure it is turning the feed rollers by barely starting a feed and stopping the machine. The rollers will be in a different position. A second way is to take the paper tray out and trip the paper tray switch all the way in back, then start a feed and put (just a LITTLE pressure) with your finger on the roller to see if is aggresively turns. This will prove that the clutch is good.

DO NOT USE alcohol since this will clean the rubber rollers but make them fail much sooner. Use eucalyputs oil (4 oz bottle in health food stores for $5 will last for years) with a cloth and clean the rubber pickup rollers. If the leading edge of the rollers looks a little shinny you need to barely roughen the entire surface of the roller up with (60 to 80 grit) sandpaper (especially the leading edge) and then clean it again with the euclyptus oil. This will take about 20 minutes to dry and your rollers will pickup paper as good if not better than when they were new.

Xerox XD100 paper jamming every time.

The fuser is the problem. Most likely the fuser will need to be rebuilt or replaced.
Google a business called The Parts Drop. they have either the parts or the unit.
You may just have to take the fuser out and remove a badly jammed piece of paper in that module.
Shut the machine off for a half an hour. Remove the back cover. You will then see on the left side a black plastic bracket with 3 plugs on it. Disconnect those 3 plugs. Then open the right side door and toward the top is the fuser. It has yellow caution HOT labels on it. There are 2 silver phillips screws holding it in. Remove the screws and then remove the fuser unit and see if there is a paper in there. There are 2 screws that you can remove and the fuser will kind of fold open to inspect for bent fingers or one out of place.

My printer keeps jamming. I have replaced the

The most common cause for jamming every copy on this model is a broken fuser drive gear. If you open the right side door you have a gate that flips open with a bunch of "teeth" on it. This gate is part of the fusing unit. If the paper always stops in this area when entering the fuser it is a broken drive gear. Your Xerox is made by Sharp. The part number for the gear is NGERH0540FCZ3
Perhaps you can find a local repair person who can replace it for you.
Good Luck

I have a paper jam on the right side of my Xerox WorkCentre xd100. I can't find my User's Guide, and don't know how to release the paper jam.

If the paper is in the fuser area, the fuser needs to be taken out.
I have heard and seen some customers take out the fuser. It has two wood screws to be removed and the plug on the side.
Extra care needs to be taken when doing this task.
Unplug the machine.
remove the two screws and unplug the fuser plug.
Gentley pull out the fuser and you can see the paper in the fuser.
There are small stripper fingers down there, be very careful when taking partial pieces out, be very patient, and extra careful.
This roller does not turn very easy if you need to rotate it.
Just tighten snugger than snug tight. Which means a loose tight. The mounting walls can break very easy.
If the problem jam is below by the tray, try to manage to push a card stock from below to get out the paper.
Let me know if this works.
Good luck.

Paper folds and jams before

your description points to a fuser assembly problem which is right where you looked. I'm not sure what that plastic piece is from. if it is black, it probably came from the fuser. That is a replaceable part, but I'm not sure you can still purchase them from Xerox.

Xerox xd100 copier

Sounds like 2 different things going on.
The slow warm up is normally the toner cartridge is almost out of ink but not reporting it. It is trying to set up but there is not enough ink to do so.
The jams, if the machine is making it into the machine but not exiting, then you most likely have a broken gear on the end of the heat roller in the fuser
