I have a PF in the window but the keypad will not work. I unplugged it for 2 days, plugged it back in and it worked ONCE.

"PF" on some units means there's been a power failure. Unfortunately, sometimes when there's a power failure, there's also a power "bump", and your oven may have been exposed to a short-term voltage spike. Sometimes these spikes exceed 130 volts on a 117 volt line. It's possible the main control board may have been damaged by something like this.

My hotpoint microwave says PF -- the buttons are not working either - but i notice some are now - like the light etc -- the clock doesnt work

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

PF error means power failure which is generally caused when the control board inside the unit goes bad. You can try unplugging the unit for 15-30 minutes, if the issue returns then the control board needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

My microwave shows PF on the screen and none of the buttons are working, not even the timer button. How to solve this problem ?

PF = Power failure. Try and push the clear or cancel button (or start, or clock etc) You may have missed one. If that doesn't work try and unplug it for 10 seconds or so and retry.

Dishwasher is blinking PF what does that mean?

howdy, PF means power failure. There was evidently an interruption. If it has a clock this requires a reset, otherwise you should be able to clear it by reselecting your preferred cycles or timer.

After having it on to say pop corn, after 4 minutes it goes dead. Then 2 hours later there are 2 letters that appear. Then it will work again. I have had it for 2 weeks and this has happened several times.

I'll bet the letters are "PF", as in power failure, right?

If it is going dead, sounds like the magnetron is overheating and opening the thermostat.

This can be caused when the internal cooling fan is not running or by a magnetron that is failing.

When I say internal cooling fan, I do not mean the hood vent exhaust fan which you can turn on and off manually.

I'm instead talking about the internal fan which comes on automatically whenever you microwave.

It is vital that the cooling fan runs, or the magnetron will be destroyed.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

GE MicroWave JES1136WL01 died while defrosting.

Mine has the same problems. After removing top cover, check fuse on power supply board (mine was OK). Then check thermo fuse located to the far left under the top cover( 2 black wires going to it) using a meter. I then jumped this fuse to see if this was the only problem. I hope to find a replacement thermofuse at the local hardware store.

PF ?

Not actually dead, just apparently unresponsive.

PF means power failure. It either got reset or unplugged, etc.

If it's not responding to the keys, then you likely have a shorted keypad or trouble on the control board.
