Talked to Olevia tech support-this was their guess as to what happened. Have audio but no picture. The TV is slighty over 2 years old, and in my mind this thing should not ave shot craps already. They say inverter itself cannot be replaced, but I find that hard to believe. I have removed the back panel off tv, and see all kinds of circuit boards, etc. I have no diagram so I am not sure where the inverter would be located.
Any ideas if inverter itself can be replaced; and/or get a diagram or manual showing where this board is located?
thanks,
Todd

The inverter can be replaced. The LT42HVi backlight inverter has two boards.. one on the left and one on the right. I have 2 working Olevia LT42HVi tvs, which I have replaced with other tvs. Willing to part out. Let me know if you need anymore help. E-Mail: [email protected]

HI TODD , I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH ONE IN THE SHOP IN VA I AM WORKING ON NOW. THE BACKLIGHT IS PROBALLY BAD ON YOURS ALSO WHICH IS THE BOARD ABOVE THE MAIN BOARD. IT IS LOCATED TOP CENTER LOOKING AT THE BACK. IF YOU GET TO IT SEND ME AN EMAIL WITH THE P/N # , I WILL DO SOME RESEARCH. OLEVIA DOES NOT HAVE THE BOARD AND NO HELP ON FINDING IT . THE MAIN BD IS A POSSIBLE PROBLEM BUT TO INVEST $400 IS JUST TO COSTLY TO TRY.OLEVIA DOES NOT HAVE ANY DIAGRAMS TO USE THE CHECK TEST POINTS OR COMPONETS. TO CHECK FOR NO BACKLGHT SHINE A VERY BRIGHT FLASH LIGHT ON THE SCREEN FROM THE SIDE AT ABT 30 DEG AND LOOK AT THE SCREEN ABT 45 DEG > THE SET ON AND ON A CHANNEL. STUDY AND YOU WILL SEE A GHOST IMAGE TO CONFIRM NO BACK LIGHT.KEEP IN TOUCH MY WE CAN HELP EACH OTHER.
BOB
HI AGAIN TODD, FORGET WHAT I SAID ABT THE BOARD LOCATION GOT TO MANY SETS OPEN. THE BOARD SHOULD BE UNDERNEATH THE SHEET METAL THAT ALL THE MAJOR PCB's ARE MOUNTED ON. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO UNPLUD BOARD CABELING AND DISSASEMBLE TO GET TO A BOARD THAT HAS TRANSFORMERS MAINLY AND ABT 4X6 IN . IN SIZE. YOU WILL NEED TO CONFIRM IT HAS A SUPPLY VOLTAGE THEN EYEBALL FOR POOR CONNECTIONS. I TALKED WITH A TECH AT LCDPARTS.COM WHO WAS VERY HELPFUL AND SAID BY PART # ( ONCE WE KNOW IT) HE MADE BE ABLE TO SUPPLY OR SUB.

SOURCE: OLEVIA 540-B11 42" LCD-Inverter supposedly shot craps
Ok I'm Not an expert on Olevia's but I've done enough LCD Tv's to know a few things. The inverter boards are usually located on the right and left side edges at the back of the chassis. They usually run from the top to the bottom and have multiple connectors coming out to feed the backlights in the LCD panel. I can believe Olevia might not supply them (most other companies do) except as a part of the LCD panel. In some cases, the manufacturer of the LCD panel (Olevia does not make their own panels) does not supply the boards separately to the company making the set..In terms of getting a diagram, the panel maker (probably chinese or korean) probably has one, but Olevia may not. Your best bet would be to keep an eye on a site like this one:

They get scrapped TV's and remove the inidividual boards for resale. I have already checked and they don't have the board you're looking for right now, but that can change. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Will try to get the sheet metal portion off soon. I will try to email or respond to you if I can get to the part-may take some time as I will be out of town for a bit-so it may be a week or so before I can attempt-will let you know for sure if and when I can get to it-I do appreciate the advice-Great idea Robert!-Appreciate it since I am in no way a techie type person.
We have sound, but no picture. We can see faint image on screen if looking at it just right. Do you know where to get a backlight for an Olevia Model 540-b11? Ours is a 40" LCD.
Hi. I have the same problem w/ the same TV. I tried the "shine the light on the screen" test, as Robert suggested. I saw the "ghost image", so does that definitely mean this is a backlight issue? Does anyone know what part I would have to buy, and tips on installation? Or should I just shop for another set? Thanks in advance! - Lynsie
We were watching TV this evening & our picture just went out. We do have the "ghost" image, but I have no clue about what to do with this. We bought our TV from one of those home shopping channels about 2 years ago. Did any of your come from there too? Maybe it was a bad batch??? Let me know what you guys came up with to fix it.
I have the same problem with the same TV which I bought from a home shopping network about 2 and a half years ago. I get sound, but no video. I haven't tried the flashlight trick yet, but from the many forums I've visited that have described this identical, I have no doubt that it's the same problem.... I'm ready to make the first incision... Nurse? 3 mm phillips, please :)

Hi, I got a lg47SL9500 and from one to the other day the screen looks like on the picture. Maybe someone got an idea what is the fault. I already screw it open and take a look on the elkos but they looks good. The only thing that wonders me is one red diode on the inverter board, i also take a picture but i think i only can upload one. I hope my english is not so bad, I am from germany.thanks for the help.
