please ping your router gateway, for seeing default gateway you take command prompt and type ipconfig, there you can see your default gateway then type ping gatewayip (eg: ping 192.168.0.1) if you are getting reply from that gateway your computer communicating with your router. If you are getting request timedout then there is a problen in communication. If you are getting the reply then you just ping google (ping www.google.com).getting reply the connection to the internet is fine.If not there is problen in internet connection in the router.

I have installed dlink 1016 10/100 Switch I have two computers and one dsl router connected to this switch but i am facing slow internet problem. when i connect my pc directly with router it works fine...

you'll probably find the router is set up to ignore ping requests, most are by default, for better results, try pinging a website and compare the results both with and without the switch. The switch shouldn't make any noticable difference to your connections, I use one and there's not perceivable difference in performance.

My Computer is Connecting to the router but no internet even though my modem is connected to it?

try to ping few websites and also try ping loop back.
1. Click on Start--Programs--Accessories--command prompt
2. type ping www.microsoft.com and press Enter and see whats the packets sent, received and lost.
if lost is 100% that means the router is not connected to the server and you need to contact Internet Service Provider to reconfigure the router.
you can also try to ping other websites like google.com or yahoo.com or any other website.

3. If lost is 0 % when you ping few of the websites and still you are not able to access any webpage then there could be a fault with the winsock interface of the computer, please reply soon and i'll tell you how to fix it.

Sometimes, you might face a situation where your wireless icon shows that you are connected to the Internet but you just can't access any websites. What do you do when you face this problem?

This article will show you how you can repair Internet connection when wireless icon shows connected, but unable to go online.

To connect to your wireless network with Wireless Zero Configuration, please click here.

In checking if you're computer is properly connected to the Linksys Router, you will need to perform four steps:
i. Checking the Physical Connection to the Router
ii. Checking the LEDs
iii. Checking the IP Address of the PC
iv. Pinging the Router
NOTE: To check the computer's connection to the router using Mac, click here. If you are using Windows Vista, click here. For Windows 7 users, learn more here. For Windows 7 users, learn more here.
Checking the Physical Connection to the Router

Make sure that the computer is connected to one of the four Ethernet ports of the router and the modem should be connected to the Internet port. For more instructions, click here.
Checking the LEDs

The Linksys router's LED lights will indicate the status of the connection. After connecting the broadband modem and the computer to the router, make sure that the LED lights are lit up. For more instructions, click here.
Checking the IP Address of the PC

The IP address of the computer is another indication that the computer is properly connected to the router. For instructions, click here.
Pinging the Router

Ping test helps trace the communication between the computer and the router. The computer sends packets to the router and in return the router sends out replies to validate the connection. In this example, our router IP address is "192.168.1.1."

Y have problem whit the internet it to slow

dude that is in terms if your ISP.
but before you call your isp try to do this:

Scan for viruses ( but first update the antivirus software you use to the most updated virsion )

CMD codes ( Cant connect to Internet )
1. Go to command prompt
2. Type-in Ping 127.0.0.1 = Lan Card address
3. Get the value of the pockets Sent, Recieved and Lost.
4. If the value is ( Sent = 4, Recieved = 4 and Lost = 0% ) Then the lan card and wireless card is working fine and the problem is with the ISP = Contact ISP

OR

No Connection using router
CMD codes ( Cant connect to Internet )
1. Go to command prompt
2. Type in ping 192.168.0.1 or which ever the address of your router.
3. Get the value of the pockets Sent, Recieved and Lost.
4. If the value is ( Sent = 4, Recieved = 4 and Lost = 0% ) Then the lan card and wireless card is working fine and the problem is within the Router configuration. = Advice the CX to Contact the Router manufacturer or ISP

Laptops stopped connecting wireless

how about to reset your router and setup it the proper address by your internet provider..
laptops only connect to the router automatically if you enable it reconnect and detect its network without manually connect internet, this procedure can see in your wireless properties by enabling it.
And also ask your internet provider if theres a problem also with their internet connection.
Good luck!

it is normally 192.168.1.254 for this router, but if you have pinged it the router must be ok, double check your isp password and usename and PPOe or PPOA setting and that the mtu is set correct for your isp.
