Question about Sanyo DS31590 31" TV

1 Answer

Sanyo T.V. My Sanyo T.V. was working great - wonderful picture, sound everything. When I went to turn it on today nothing. It is like it is unplugged, I checked and it was plugged in. I have been checking on the internet and have found out that this is not a uncommon thing to happen to a Sanya T.V.. but don't know if it can be fixed or if it would be to enpensive to fix. Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to your advice- to check the fuse. We did today and it was blown. Went to Radio Shack and using the number on the fuse 4A125V bought a pkg. of 125 Volt fuses for about $3.00. Came home and replaced it and to our great joy the T.V. worked Our Sanyo is 1996 31' Thank you again. What a wonderful Christmas present.. .

Sanyo DS35590 I had the same problem, removed the back and checked the fuse - OK. I did not find any brown spots olyn dust! Still not able to get it to work. If it is the transformer, are they expensive to replace? or should I buy a new tv? Thanks for your help!

Take the back off the tv and where the power cord hooks into the tv check the fuse there on the board if this isnt blown then you are probably looking at a power supply problem look at the board for anything that looks black and burnt or dark brown spots on the board. this will tell you where the problem is if it has any. but it just might be the fuse.

I have a Sanyo FVD48p4 that has suddenly stopped showing the picture, but there is still sound.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

No picture 2 days ago power went out thru out the neighborhood, once power came back TV worked great. today, go to power on TV, here it clicking, but no picture... cable box working, cable working in 2nd...

It sounds like there`s a sort on the secondaries of the power supply. Before the power went off, did you ever turn the tv off by unplugging it?? In other words, did you turn the power off completely to the set or leaving it in standby?? if you always left it in stby, it will be the capacitors in the power supply, they dry out if the power is always on, so they will need replacing. If you did turn off the power, then I think you`ll find that the power cut had nothing to do with the fault you`ve got now, it will be the Line Output Stage which has failed or gone short circuit. Sanyo 4.9cu.ft. compact refrigerator heats rather than cools

I'd already picked up a replacement (B&D 2.7cf) before I found the website and asked the question,,,, hoped for a quick fix answer and I'd be able to return the B&D.... oh well. With 'designed' obsolescence and 'disposable' appliances, Robert L's answer confirmed my 'fears'.
Now I'm trying to find someone locally (Conroe, TX) who would like to 'recycle' the Sanyo (everything but the compressor/motor is in great shape - door, glass shelves, etc. maybe even the coolant which I don't want to 'dump' in a landfill.
