Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Code error 80072EFE

I understand you receive an error message 0x80072EFE when trying to installing update from the Windows Update website. This kind of issue may be caused by hardware/software firewalls or proxy server or Windows category files are corrupted. Let’s try the following steps to resolve this issue.

Step 1: Check background programs.
=======================
Disable firewalls or other Internet browser programs that can affect the Internet connection. The following programs can affect the connection to the Windows Update site and I suggest you remove or disable them:

McAfee firewall
Norton Internet Security
Zone Alarm Firewall
Panda firewall

Step 2: Delete the CatRoot2 folder
=======================
A: Stop Cryptographic Services:

1. Click Start, click Run, type in "SERVICES.MSC" and press Enter.
2. Double click Cryptographic Services, and then click Stop (if it has been started).

B: After stopping Cryptographic Service, please delete the "Catroot2" folder:

1. Locate the "C:\Windows\System32\" folder.
2. Delete the Catroot2 subfolder in System32.

Note: I am assuming your Windows Vista is installed in C:\Windows.

C: Re-start Cryptographic Services:

1. Click Start, click Run, type in "SERVICES.MSC" and press Enter.
2. Double click Cryptographic Services, and then click Start.

Cryptographic services

I presume that you are running XP so here goes. To ensure that cryptographic services service isrunning. Open control panel, administrative tools, services. Select "crytographic service" from the list of names. Right click this service, select properties. If the service is not shown as "started" you can start it by selecting the start button. You should also set the startup type to automatic so that it will be running when needed in the future. Please let me know if this problem has been as aresult of installation of service pack or security patch as there is more that can be done to solve your problem. Good Luck.

Unable to download program... cryptogrpahic error

ok this a Windows service. Depending on what OS you are running there are similar routes to access this. This is for XP Start->Control Panel->Performance and Maintenance->Administrative Tools->Services

Look for the service and set it to Automatic

WOW SP3 was the culprit!

Here are several links to read and decide whether to use SP3 or not. I personally created my own SP3 cd from an SP3 iso file and installed it on my systems. I have not encountered any problems .(knock on wood)

New and Enhanced Functionality in SP3:

Networking
"Black Hole" Router Detection: Now, this detection is on by default and is for detecting routers that are silently discarding packets. This feature is also available in Vista
NAP Network Access Protection: Policy enforcement that protects networks. It is now included Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, and Windows XP SP3. Available in RTM (release to manufacturers) version of Vista

Security
Descriptive Security Options User Interface: More descriptive text, hopefully this will provide better explanations of options.
Enhanced Security for Admin. And Service policy entries: All new policy is present by default and after authentication cannot be removed.
Microsoft Kernel Mode Cryptographic Module: A new Kernel module that fixes a known problem with Microsoft's cryptographic application.
Windows Product Activation: Users can now complete the operating system installation without providing a product key. The keyless install option will allow installs of XP SP3 to proceed without using a product key for 30 days. This option is also available for Vista SP1 will not update your Internet Explorer 6 to Internet Explorer 7. But it will update either your IE 6 or your IE7. From what I've been able to tell so far, the same is true of Windows Media Player. The update does not install the current Media Player 11 as a part of the fixes or additions.

Per PC World:

"Since SP3 was supposed to be mostly a bug-fix/patch consolidation release, the unexpected speed boost comes as a nice bonus," Barth said. "In fact, XP SP3 is shaping up to be a 'must-have' update for the majority of users who are still running Redmond's not-so-latest and greatest desktop OS."
