There may be a small button beetween it and the keyboard that turns it on,otherwise you have to enter the bios configuration on start, press f10,or f2 cant rember witch on your model, find your port settings ,using the arrow keys to navagate, several options, for example.it can be dissabled when external mouse is connected,or special keys on keyboard are assigned to turn it off and on,may be disabled in the device manager, download new driver and software,at hp,support, use your servive tag located on the bottom of your laptop, type it in and go to drivers and downloads, choose your operating system, and all the drivers for your laptop are located there, hope this helps, aloha from maui todd0708

Try pressing the holding in the Fn button and pressing F9

This should disable the touchpad, if it doesn't then you will need to disable it in mouse properties in your control panel.

Mouse pad stopped working on actual laptop but will work when using wireless mouse.

Try uninstalling the touchpad driver from the Device Manager, restart the Computer and reinstall the Touuchpad driver after connecting a wireless mouse.
If the issue persists then this indicates that the issue is with the Touchpad sensor and requires to get the Touchpad serviced.

I installed a wireless mouse in my laptop but touchpad does't work

is the mouse still attached when the touchpad doesn't work or does it still not work when you detach the mouse, if it works after detaching the mouse, your computer automatically disables the touchpad when a mouse is plugged in.

Wireless Mouse on a laptop with built inTouchpad on the keyboard

No need to disable the touchpad they should both work at the same time. Have you tried both the mice on another PC?. The first mouse should have the correct software already installed but you will most probably need to install software for the microsoft mouse. I hope you have tried resetting by hitting the button on the receiver then while its flashing the button on bottom of the mouse? If all this fails do have any other USB devices you can test on laptop?......good luck

PS I hope its not the batteries

Touchpad & lower 'mouse' buttons do not work

There is a button on the laptop which re-enables the touchpad. It's either next to the touchpad, or you must hold down the Fn button and press one of the function keys at the top.

Just a thought, perhaps you could borrow a usb cable mouse. Tell the comp to detect the wireless mouse, then unplug the usb mouse.
