The most likely problem would be a blown fuse. I would replace all of the fuses.

Amp turns on but no green light and no sound

As a pro i have ran into this problem many times, what happens with volfenhag amps the solders on the RCA inputs aren't very good, and what happens is that you get to much current going threw them and they over heat and lose contact, volfenhag will fix it,you have to pay for shipping to them, and include a 12 dollar money order.Volfenhag audio 1-323-588-8571.

How to switch protection off (red LED to blue)

The protection light is on indicating a short or over- voltage problem. If you disconnect the speaker leads and the light goes off or green then the problem is a shorted speaker or wiring problem. If the light stays red the problem is inside the amp and it will need service and parts.

Protection mode keeps coming on

That probably means that it's getting a surge of power. Do you have a fuse from your battery wire to your amp? Check also your ground wire. You may need to upgrade your ground wire.

I have a volfenhag zx-8400 amp. i dont have a manual. whats the proper way of conecting amp? its mounted on my speaker box, which is ported, 12' volfenhag 2500 watts. on the side of amp it had voltage...

The voltage prolly says like 100Mv-2v, it doesn't really matter, just know that that the lower you turn it the harder it bangs. The X-over depends on where your box is tuned, crank the knob down too about 40htz and you'll prolly be good, just don't turn it lower than your box's tuned frequency. And your rca's go to line input. And there shouldn't be a problem with mounting your amp vertically, you prolly just had a bad connection. Hope this helps if you have more questions please ask...

Is my amp or wiring bad? volfenhag zx-8400, 2000watts amp

Sounds strange,
Put a voltmeter on your car, to see if the voltage is stable when the engine is running.
if it is unstable, turn your car off immediately, to avoid damaging other electrical components.

If the voltage does not stay between 12.8 - 14,5volts (engine running) then the Rectifier is shot on your alternator.

Is your Amp screwed to the metal of the car? B'cos it shouldn't be.

if that doesnt help, try another RE-wire (you may have missed something) after refreshing your memory with an AMP wiring diagram.
Or just take it out & get it tested,
if its out of warrenty open & inspect the circuits for burns, a shop will charge just to look at it.

Need help please...

If you unplugged the fuses, the amp won't come on at all. I'd say its a blown transistor, you can test this by opening up the amp and using a multimeter to check resistance on the transistors.

Protection Light coming on with loud volume and power

It's most likely that the over-current protection is tripping at high power. At lower voltage, the amplifier can't produce as much output power and therefore can't produce enough current to trip the protection circuit.

You need to check your speakers to make sure that they are not shorted. With an ohm meter, the resistance across the voice coil shouldn't read any less than ~90% of the rated impedance.

If the speakers and the wiring are OK, the amp may have an internal fault causing the amp to go into protection.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
